Pros

Convenient- I was usually picked up at my house and we completed the deliveries for all of the surrounding houses and businesses.

Cons

Very spotty hours/Unreliable- I was told it would be 25-40 hours per week in the busiest time of the year. You could also earn $150/week if you were available for all of the shifts. I worked 25 hours the first week, then it was less than that every week after. I would only be able to work for 4-6 hours per shift, and they determined that the day of. I had to call in every day and have an open availability to be able to make that $150 bonus. I wasn’t getting enough hours so I’d pick up other work, and then, of course, they would need me that day so I never got the extra $150. Extremely difficult to contact higher-ups- I had never received my compensation for the five hours of training, in addition to a week towards the end of Dec. I tried contacting HR, but you have to just send an email. They would never get back to me. When I’d call, I’d be transferred 3-4 times, on hold, and end up talking to someone who said they’d have to call back. They never did. Finally, in probably June or July, they sent me a letter saying that they noticed I hadn’t cashed a check for $49 and that I needed to fill out a form and they would send the check to me. I filled it out and wrote a letter and additional email reminding them about the training hours. They said it could take 3-4 weeks to actually get it. I just got my $49 check yesterday, and still haven’t gotten the training check. Any calls or emails regarding the situation have been left unanswered. Incredibly frustrating

Pros

The pay is excellent .health care is 100 % paid with 100 %coverage...with exception to eye and dental which is about 70%..coverage...pension is outstanding..full package with wages and benefits is worth 130,000 yearly..without a college education I am grateful for the standard of living UPS HAS AFFORDED ME AND MY FAMILY!...and with 27 years of service I now get 6 weeks vacation with 8 sick days..and 9 paid holidays...we work hard like many people in the work force but we are well compensated!.

Cons

The only con is while your children are young you give up a lot of family time..I never got to watch my kids play sports and missed a lot of their growing years...the job can be hard on your home life but if you can make it through those years you and your family will enjoy the financial freedom that UPS provides...and now I look forward to a prosperous retirement!...so hang in there all you young drivers...
