Pros

Glassdoor Review for ACE Cash Express Pros: The company offers competitive pay and benefits for its employees. Opportunity for career growth if you meet KPIs consistently. Great team dynamic at the store and regional levels, with supportive colleagues.

Cons

Cons: The executive team was very aggressive during quarterly business reviews and often didn’t lead by example in how they treated the leadership team. HR was not supportive of what needed to be done in the field, making it challenging to get the resources and help necessary to succeed. The company has a "you're only as good as your last KPI" mentality, but this standard seemed to apply selectively to certain individuals rather than consistently across the board. Processes and documentation were inconsistent from region to region, leading to confusion and uneven performance expectations. You said: very high stress level at all times. they expect you to be in non safe areas and alwasy operate with just get it done, until the CEO comes to town and than they care. ALl the stress in the world is not worth the money they offer. ChatGPT said: ChatGPT Cons (Continued): Extremely high stress levels at all times, with constant pressure to perform. There’s an expectation to work in unsafe areas without proper support or concern for safety—just a "get it done" mentality. The only time the company seems to care about standards or employee well-being is when the CEO is visiting, which creates a false sense of urgency and care. The stress and unrealistic demands placed on employees are not worth the compensation offered.

Pros

+ The starting pay was around what a bank would pay + If you dont have a bank account the card features are decent + If you dont mind having 100-300$ a person taken out of your check per month for health insurance, the benefits are good + If you can reach the arbitrary goals that change every quarter the commission you get is decent.

Cons

- Long shifts with no lunches or break 10-12 hours - Job wants you at work no matter how sick you are because they care more about opening the store. (Had bronchitis, had covid, was told if i can drive to go get a DRs note, i can open the store and have to.) - Arbitrary bonuses / commission - No raises for two years, then gives entire staff .38 cents for a raise no matter how hard they work or goals met - Minimum health insurance taken out is $48 a pay check for cheap, crappy insurance, PPO available for around 190-300 a person a paycheck - Company at least in South Texas does not give a single darn what goes on in your family life. You HAVE to open the store and "wait for someone to come cover" or you'll face disciplinary action even if it is a family emergency. They clearly only care about the money. - District managers stretched thin with no help - Check cashing fees vague. The % on the checks vs what is written on the wall do not match. "2.75 for payroll computer" then checks are cashed between 2.8 - 2.9%. Customers notice and then I am told to adjust price when they catch us. - high turnover -> short staffed -> Forced overtime when the company has been notified I cannot work the hours - Schedule changes constantly even when schedule is posted with no warning

Pros

Working independently. With no one breathing down your neck constantly.

Cons

Everything accept the 1 “Pro” is a Con. You’re stuck behind a glass window in one room, ALONE for 11+ hours. I think the job in itself is very dangerous. There should be 2 people working AT ALL TIMES. People are crazy as heck these days. These stores are filthy and infested with bugs. Can’t sweep because every store has a broken vacuum just sitting there taking up space. There’s so many violations going on in these stores. If you’re looking to come up on a nice lawsuit, work here. You’re constantly being scheduled to work different stores all over the city so best believe you need a vehicle to work here. You’re working at the very least, 11.75 hours a day so make sure you have all of the things you need (food & drinks) because you can’t leave. You would think they would at LEAST offer their employees FREE COFFEE or snacks or a snack machine or SOMETHING smh. Nope just free purified bottled water. I only drink SPRING WATER so I have to bring my own. There are microwaves and mini refrigerators. You get no time to have a life outside of that job. You open the stores and close them. 8am-8pm. If you work a busy store you get NO BREAK time. You can barely use the restroom. I’m pretty sure that’s against the law but whatever. They want you to sale debit cards constantly which is annoying because the customers already have them or they don’t want them because they don’t want the government “tracking” them. That’s why they are getting hard checks in the first place Ace! Duh! Dealing with the public really isn’t hard. Most people are nice. You occasionally get SOBs but that’s everywhere. Its 2023. There’s better places to work. MUCH BETTER PLACES. There’s employees that have been there for over 10 years because they don’t know any better I think. They haven’t experienced a real job and the luxuries of these new era careers so they have settled for less than mediocre with Ace. I got hurt on my last job and needed something that didn’t require much physical labor. You can sit on this job so that’s really THE ONLY reason why I settled. I couldn’t settle anymore… Don’t waste your time because you will only last a few weeks. Like I said, it’s 2023, not 1993. This is the most important thing, a critical thing I missed. I missed enrollment in benefits. You only have the first 60 days to enroll. After that, you are sh*t out of luck. I had no idea. Trying to adjust to being a new hire, the stresses of learning the job, having TRAINING phone calls WHILE YOURE WORKING and talking to customers, were all distractions from me not hearing critical information & enrolling in benefits on time. No paperwork was ever mailed to my home. NOTHING. Another reason why I quit. I’m working a job with NO BENEFITS? What’s the point!?

Pros

Getting alone time when clients weren't in store.

Cons

Calls to customers who really didnt care. 11 hour shifts with no lunches or breaks. No coverage. Worked alone, even when busy. Had to travel to get any hours. Ridiculous expectations for sales and direct deposits. Benefits arent nearly as good as any other financial institution. They did not care about the safety of their employees. Required to make it into work durning blizzards with black ice if you were helping cover in a different town. Pay was horrible! Constantly on pay freezes. Could make more at McDonald's! Financial institutions and banks will pay $7-9 more an hour! This company did not feel like it actually cared about you. And in the multiple years I worked there. It got worse and worse! This job also is high stress. So much fraud. And its on you if you cash the bad check. But its also on you when you decline bad checks. You cant win! And there is no room to move up.

Pros

Benefits and pay, closed on Sundays

Cons

Workload expectations, personal time off constantly interrupted, lack of support from corporate partners, 1 person per store at a time and workload is impossible to complete and still give quality customer service. CEO/President is completely out of touch with the field employees and how unreasonable the workload is. Toxic culture - if you try to change the perception, you are the problem. Everyone is replaceable, this is why they are always posting g for the same positions, same areas constantly.
