I strongly focus in the basics of retail. Many people go after the fancy areas with marketing and decorations, social media, etc. I believe the customer ultimately wants a painless flow throughout the store from beginning to end. That means cleanliness, freshness, tidyness, availability and my personal obsession: pricing. I hate to see my cashiers running to check a wrong price while the customer waits, or even worse the customer come back with the receipt because they were overcharged.
My store is great, I love my customers and my team, but the store manager's been there for 10 years and I couldn't really go over him, so I'm looking for a place with room to grow and where I can build more experience. I like this area, and I think I'd fit great here.
I believe that if you're the manager you cannot really show that kind of feelings, is not well seen among the staff and will always bring trouble. I keep it professional, I know I'm not to be everyone's best friend but to get the job done.
