We reached this milestone two years ahead of schedule, hitting a goal originally set for 2027.🥳 This achievement is a testament to the incredible generosity of our shoppers and the dedication of our 'Charity Champions' across our stores, warehouses, and Head Office. From our signature Christmas Trolley Dash and ‘Heart of Gold’ day to our various in-store fundraisers and innovative DRS 'recycle with purpose' feature, our communities have rallied together to support the "hidden frontline" of over half a million family carers. While reaching this €1 million milestone so early in our partnership is a momentous occasion, our work is far from finished. Big news for our colleagues across Lidl Ireland today! We’ve just announced an €11m investment in pay increases across the Republic, alongside a further £2.3m for our operations in Northern Ireland. Starting March 1st, all colleagues across the island will see the benefits of this latest boost. At Lidl, we stay ahead of the curve. Since 2022, we have invested over €58m in pay rises, resulting in a cumulative increase of approximately 27.5%. We were the first major nationwide employer to commit to paying the Living Wage back in 2015, and we have proudly maintained or exceeded that rate for the last decade. Our latest increase ensures we meet the 2026 recommended Living Wage. We are pleased to announce a significant milestone in our commitment to the Irish agri-food sector through a strategic three-way collaboration between Cavan-based suppliers Terra Spirits & Liqueurs, Lakeland Dairies, and Ice Cream Treats. This partnership demonstrates the commercial power of a circular local supply chain, where three distinct producers have successfully synchronized their operations to meet both domestic and international demand. The collaboration was driven by market-led innovation, with Terra Spirits & Liqueurs developing the new Deluxe Toffee Yum Yum Liqueur using premium cream sourced from Lakeland Dairies, a farmer-owned co-operative representing over 3,200 family farms. This synergy extends further into our frozen category, where Ice Cream Treats has integrated Terra’s liqueur into a bespoke Deluxe Irish Cream Liqueur Ice Cream, showcasing the versatility and high standard of Irish-produced ingredients across multiple product lines. Beyond domestic success, this partnership has secured a transformative export deal that will see 2.5 million bottles of Lidl’s Deluxe cream liqueurs reach international markets. SPOILER ALERT! We're thrilled to confirm a new, three-year product placement deal with Ireland’s longest running soap and break ground on our newest store located in RTÉ's Fair City. On-set construction of Lidl Carrigstown at RTÉ studios in Donnybrook is currently underway, with the first episode including the new Lidl supermarket due to air in early summer. As Lidl marks its 25th anniversary in Ireland this year, it’s only fitting that the new high profile product placement deal is with Ireland's iconic soap. With 184 stores across Ireland welcoming around 2 million weekly customers, Lidl has an extensive reach, and the new deal will further extend brand awareness amongst viewers. We are thrilled to announce our new charity partnership with Family Carers Ireland, the national charity supporting around half a million family carers across the country. 👏 With a pledge to raise €1 million over the next three years, funds raised by Lidl colleagues and customers will support the vital work of Family Carers Ireland who provide free supports and services such as emergency care planning, counselling, respite support and more. According to Family Carers Ireland, there are over 500,000 family carers across the country, but many others who are in a carer role are slipping through the net. Research amongst Lidl Ireland employees found that two in five employees are currently in a caring role and three quarters of employees believe they will be in a caring role in the next 5 to 15 years. Through the new partnership, we aim to encourage family carers to self-identify and connect with the charity with the message ‘we see you' to ensure that no one has to care alone.
