I have been working at Lidl full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

In a management position at Lidl you will learn as much as you want, but only if you want to. Motivation is the key and the more motivated you are the easier it is to progress in the company. Well paid, structure based work, fair workload.

    Cons

No bonus scheme, depending on the store and position but you may notice favouritism.

    Advice to Management

Treat them how you want to be treated.

I worked at Lidl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay well Friendly team Chance of progression

    Cons

Long hours at till, zero variety especially for new staff Called last minute on days off to come into work and being made feel bad if you don't A lot of favouritism to certain employees who get all the morning shifts, not evenly divided out Clinical depressing environment, no mental stimulation, background music would be an extreme addition to Lidl stores and make it feel more like a shop and less like a factory.... No work life balance at all Staff are just a number, everything comes down to meeting targets.

    Advice to Management

Do Rota fairly and divide late and early shifts out more evenly Provide better training so all staff can do all jobs throughout store

I have been working at Lidl part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Wages not minimal, is that a pro for such demanding and fast paced job?

    Cons

Weak strategy of introducing new employees into operations, on paper it all looks good, but you don't get proper training in all the activities you are asked to know how to do. Long term employees abuse newcomers by assigning them jobs that are hardest and don't allow rest, while they are hiding on shop floor or warehouse and work really really slow, talk on phone and wait for end of the day. They also put pressure... on newcomers as if they are not working fast enough, while they them self are lazy, irresponsible and quite incompetent if you take into consideration they are working in Lidl for 10 - 15 years. Contract violation is not a problem as well as labor legislation violations, nothing is being done about it. Teams of buddies are doing in stores whatever they like and nobody is controlling them or stopping them to make it more fair. Shifts are very badly distributed between employees in terms of working hours and working days, somebody is doing somebody a big favor there, absolutely nothing is being done about it. Not enough hours, even if you work hard (and there is evidence in system about it) you most probably won't get better contract (30 instead of 20 hours per week guaranteed). You get paid only on the end of month, and all hours you worked over your contract, are being paid at the end of next month, meaning 2 months later then you worked them. So, if you have 20 hours contract and you worked 30 hours, you will get paid for 20 hours on the end of that MONTH and for rest 10 hours at the end of NEXT MONTH. No discount for employees even though one of rules that every employee buying items must be marked by "staff sale" when being served on tills. So, detailed info about what employees buy, but nothing in it for employees, except warning if they don't use "staff sale" button. Rules are being bent much, and newly employed count on leadership of senior employees, which instruct them to brake some rules because saving time. At the same time, that newly employed are being investigated and warned for listening to senior employees guidance. Inventory loss is quite big in some stores but at the same time security is not employed for whole day, not even for every day...

    Advice to Management

How do you expect for people to know things if they are not being trained? Do you check what duties are assigned to newly employed? You can't be fast doing loose stock if you are only being put to do dirtiest and hardest jobs in store, never close down or decarding. Employees ask questions like "You are too slow, how long are you at Lidl???" while at same time assigning hardest job to you and loosing their time on... jobs that allows it, and not giving you jobs that would make you faster at certain jobs. That is one bad management, overpaid and incompetent, or just don't care. You chose it.
