      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Oracle (London, England) in Nov 2019

      Interview

TL;DR It was a very negative experience and I doubt I will ever apply to this company again due to the lack of professionalism and the acute rudeness displayed. I submitted my application on their job portal for a Graduate Cloud Server Developer position in London, United Kingdom. After a few days, I got an email in which the Hiring Manager told me that one of their interviewers tried to call me at 10 AM on a working day. That's weird. I never scheduled a phone interview with them as my only interaction so far was submitting my application. I didn't think much of it and thought that's how they do their interviews. Then I replied and scheduled a phone interview. On the day of the interview, the interviewer was supposed to call me at x time. That didn't happen. I didn't receive any email about the interviewer asking for a reschedule, nothing. After almost an hour of waiting, I finally called them and asked them what's going on. Long story short, the interviewer had an "emergency" to attend to. I didn't think much of it again, was hoping nothing bad happened to them. We rescheduled again for another day. On the day of, the interviewer finally called me. The interview started really ok. I was asked some behavioral questions and I think I did very fine. But then came the technical questions. That was a a massive cringefest. I was asked about my previous independent and university projects, specifically about a Java system and a Ruby on Rails app that I worked on. These were listed on my resume. and the interviewer wanted to know more about them. Now, I understand if she learnt about these technologies the day before, but she was also extremely rude about it. At one point, for no apparent reason, I was asked point-blank "Now, don't lie to me, is Ruby on Rails full-stack or front-end?". I understand if I was a little vague or that I assumed too much of what she knew about Ruby on Rails, but the "don't lie to me" part was just unwarranted. During these technical questions, there were many other instances in which she was rude, but that was the one that sticked out the most. Then we went to other questions, such as if I plan to study for a Master's or if I want to move to another country sometime in the future etc. Alright questions, but she kept interrupting me very frequently and rushed it a lot. As if she was just ticking boxes of "yes" or "no". Even when I got the hint that I might have gone in too much detail, she kept rushing through these questions and interrupting me, overall being plain rude. I was finally asked if I would be available for an on-site interview in which I could discuss my projects in detail and if I were comfortable bringing pieces of code for a team to review what I have coded, on a laptop or a sheet of paper. After answering that, we said our goodbyes and never heard from them again, not even a "unfortunately, but there were better candidates" email. Overall, a very bad experience.

      Interview
