Pros

Employ smart people Good opportunities to travel Work Life Balance was actually pretty good Was able to work on some interesting projects

Cons

National leadership doesn't seem to know where they are going Promotion criteria differs widely between offices Ridiculous amount of administrative time spent filling out spreadsheets, forecasting time and sitting on calls that go nowhere. Managers and Partners are terrible at working across service lines and guard their list of contacts in the industry to the detriment of the company KPMG was very reactive to the economic downturn rather than proactive Seattle office has lost over half of the Advisory staff in the last 15 months

Pros

It might sound cliche but the Pro for me is the people that I work with. I'm lucky enough to be staffed in a team with great leadership. Managers are actually willing to coach junior members and be a real mentor. I very much appreciate their efforts.

Cons

Long hours and office politics. This is pretty basic and obvious for any public accounting firms. Every time a quarter end, year end, or a special filing is going out, you can expect 10-14 hour days. It might be fine in your early career but it gets really tiring after a few years.
