Pros

- nice colleagues - work from home policy

Cons

- strategy changes every few weeks - extremely siloed environment (teams master reinventing wheels on a daily basis) - very poor system and software engineering practices (stay away if you are keen to learn and advance in the craft) - red tape everywhere, bureaucracy, very slow moving (hey, it's French company!) - product owners and managers sound clueless in regard to software products development, modern development techniques and engineering practices - too many people are suffering from "prima donnaism" - very high turnover rate

Pros

There are some very smart and innovative people in the company, a lot were in startups that got bought over. This is the main thing axway is in the news for. Weekend work not really a thing here. Management often eventually realize the smart thing after been told.

Cons

The company is always focused on trying to buy another company, it is the the only strategy the executives at higher level in the company know how to do. They don't even know how to manage the company and products they take over. Most of the products that end in the company get removed after a few years despite them being profitable. All financial figures only ever show case modest growth even competitors in the same market showed huge growth. According to some older employees the company has never had a successful product developed in house, all the development happened in the startups they took over. And if you have seen the constantly changing priorities and strategy you know why. A lot of executives were ex IBM and have had a huge impact on the executive culture, the CEO keeps telling a story about the corporate jet from his days in IBM. No one knows what is happening in this company, a regular occurrence is that a bunch of middle manager meet and decide something but none of them do anything about it. They don't even know what to do about anything. They spend a lot of time and money with external consultants. Axway was spun off from Sopra a French consultancy and outsourcing company and a lot of processes and structure remain.

Pros

Genuine good will to deliver Good products and customers A lot of very good engineers A lot of very helpful people Flexible conditions, good offices, pay is pretty good.

Cons

Lacks vision so they copy existing ideas. Process over people, always. Creates very technical and complex solutions to meet customers needs and then tries to re-invent the wheel again as the last one was too complex. This gives the appearance of siloed information when the solution was complex and there are few left understand it. Only listens to a few big customers. Managers (Everyone actually) have too much to do to listen to suggestions so they push back. Had really become a grind so I left.
