Recently I have applied for Channel Account Executive UK/I position. After the initial phone screening with the recruiter I got an email that it went well and I will soon get a follow-up with the further instructions. However, few days later instead of instructions I have received an email from a no-reply inbox stating 'I really enjoyed our conversation and think you'd be a great fit for HubSpot. Unfortunately, we can't process further for the UKI market as the requirement there is for someone with native language skills.'
I have emailed the recruiter straight away asking them to specify how and based on what they are assessing the level of English. Obviously, I haven't got any reply to my email.
I have spent a number of years in different companies working with UK, Irish, US and other English-speaking customers. This means that I have the cultural knowledge and posses good language skills. Therefore, I do suspect that Hubspot is discriminating applicants based on their nationality. I also suspect that there was a number of applicants who received this kind of email.
I would say think twice before applying to this company.
