At HubSpot, interns aren’t interns in the traditional sense of the word. No coffee runs here. Interns make real decisions, produce real work, and drive real results.
HubSpot has a summer Product Team internship program.
This program is built to help our interns learn key design, coding, and business skills, and also take advantage of the the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of a rapidly growing software company, while having some fun along the way, of course!
In fact, we invest so much in our interns that a large percentage of them go on to accept full time positions with HubSpot. Many of our team leaders today started as interns and continue year after year to develop their careers with us.
We know you might not have it all figured out after graduation, but relax, you don’t have to!
At HubSpot, we welcome recent grads into a variety of roles and opportunities including, but certainly not limited to, internships, entry-level sales and marketing roles, product engineers, and technical support engineers.
Just because you begin your career with one team at HubSpot doesn’t mean you will be there forever. It’s just that, a beginning. Alumni of our entry-level roles are uniquely positioned to launch into different divisions of the company and have gone on to spearhead some of our most innovative initiatives to date.

I have been working at HubSpot full-time (More than a year)
- Smart, authentic and transparent leadership
- A strong product that is always evolving - the marketing product really slowed down for a few years but the current work to take customer feedback seriously and future-proof is impressive
- We get to solve for the mid market and SMBs. This is so much more interesting than chasing enterprises or being beholden to large customers. We can make a real impact on our customers businesses
- Employee onboarding and training is taken very seriously - you are given what you need to succeed
- We have real functions outside of the US (product, BI, legal, operations) - this is rare!
- If you have a case to make and have the data and logic to back it up you can get access to whoever you need to make a change. People are accessible.
- If you don't want to give and receive feedback (good and bad) constantly then it's not the place for you - you can't be sensitive or take things personally - not really a con for me but be aware.
- Need to do a better job at setting expectations around career growth and putting people in the drivers seat. We can pander a little bit to much to every piece of feedback
- It's become increasingly difficult to execute a new idea quickly - BET, systems and reporting are slow and very centralized. I understand they have so many competing project and priorities and I'm confident we will get to a better place but this makes true autonomy difficult
Advice to Management
- Reduce your buzzwords. It's reached a peak!
- Keep focused on balancing the short term execution and long term future-proofing
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at HubSpot (Dublin, Co. Dublin) in June 2017.
The process started with a call from one the internal recruiters, we had a quick chat about the role and Hubspot in general.
I was sent on a tech assessment which needed to be completed in 3 hours. It was great, you can use any language or tools you wish to get it completed. I managed to get it done in about 2 hours 20 mins.
I was then asked to come in for a face to face in their head office, this process took about 3 hours broken up into roughly 45 mins or more with 4 different groups of people.
After that I met the head of engineering for a normal chat about my reasons for wanting to working at Hubspot, my short and long term career aspirations. Was a really nice chat and I got more of an insight of how Hubspot works day to day.
I left feeling confident that I did my best, the next day I was told that they didn't want to progress with my application. The only reason being that I wasn't what they were looking for on the technical side for a senior role.
All and all it was a great experience, I felt I bit hard done by though as it is very hard to gauge what they are looking for in terms of technical ability since I completed everything they asked.
Maybe next time :)
