      Software Developer Interview

      16 Jan 2018
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at FDM Group (London, England) in Dec 2017

      Interview

There are multiple stages just to make it to the assessment day. So of course there is a CV screening which pretty much everyone makes it past, the only way your CV would name make it through if it was non existent to begin with. then a phone screen followed by a phone interview which is recorded so that the recruiter can approve. followed by a recorded interview, simple questions, 20 seconds to think of an acceptable response and then go for it, once again this was not difficult, i stuttered and did not make enough eye contact but i gave examples to each point and related to the question. finally once this is completely, you get through to as assessment day. now i'll be honest, if you are going through for a business consultant, it will be harder because of the popularity of that position. but yeah, at the assessment day we have 4 tests, 1 of which is not valuable and not really considered. verbal reason (not important or hard) maths test (simple multiplications and what not, i got 95% set notations and venn diagrams (simple really, i got 100%) IT and amplitude test (now this is HARD. some questions on IT terms like http stands for, easy enough. others you are provided with a line of coding, input process and output, if you keep an eye out for those 3 steps you should be fine. others were trick questions. i got %60, acceptable score for that test was only 50% because of it's difficulty.) then you move on to 3 interviews. this is done so get a better idea of who you really are. if all 3 interviewers thinks the same of you, good for you. i failed my interviews by 6 marks but they offered me another chance due to my enthusiasm, passion and that i was going for IT which is rare. second round i passed with flying colours. simply address the point, expand on it and relate back to the question. don't be scared to ask them to repeat the question

      Question 1

you will be doing the individual interviews as a group. they will be asking the same questions on the day you go, but if you are required to come again to resit, they will be different questions. they will give you a scenario and ask how you would deal with it

      Interview

Screener Call with a recruiter, very basic technical assessment with programming challenges, then a video interview. Quick review of your resume and projects, very straightforward. Recieved a call from the recruiter about a week later saying the team wanted to hire me but couldn't confirm a start date yet, but probably could in the coming weeks. For the next 6 months I received a call from FDM once per month asking me if I was still interested in the role, and informing me that they could not confirm a start date. While waiting for FDM I applied, interviewed, and received an offer for another company, which I accepted.

      Interview

The interview was mostly focused on my resume and past projects. They asked a few technical questions about APIs and database basics. I wasn’t able to answer one question properly, but I stayed calm and explained my approach. Overall, it went decent
