Overcoming personal limits: Nibin Mathew is an internationally respected tennis player – and blind from birth. He discovered his passion for tennis in 2019 when attended a tennis camp for blind players. "Today, I'm feared by my competitors," Nibin says with a laugh. 🎾 On the court, the players take their places, guided by lines made of duct tape on the ground that they can feel through the soles of their shoes. The foam tennis ball, which makes a rattling sound as it moves, also provides orientation. When he's not on the court, Nibin works as a digital accessibility expert at Bosch Global Software Technologies in India. He and his team of more than 20 engineers make user interfaces for websites, apps, e-mail communication, and presentations more user-friendly, especially for those with a disability in the workplace. 💻
🌊 Navigating waves up to 14 meters high: Bosch associate Gregor Wacker is turning his lifelong dream of crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a rowing boat into a reality. His journey isn't just a personal adventure but also a mission to collect donations for Primavera e.V., an aid organization founded by Bosch associates. In December, he will set off from La Gomera, Spain, alongside his Canadian rowing partner, and will embark on an eight-to-ten-week voyage to reach Antigua in the Caribbean. 🚣♂️ Bosch supports Gregor by providing the opportunity to take a sabbatical to pursue his dream and make a difference. 💪
Each of our approximately 400,000 associates is different. With individuality comes new ideas and ultimately new technology. 💡🚀 With such a broad network of Bosch colleagues, you can share your knowledge and experience all over the world, exchange ideas and learn from each other — in employee networks, global projects, or in your free time.
Did you ever have a blind “date” during lunch break? 🍝 Our "lunch roulette" initiative offers the chance to meet randomly selected colleagues from other divisions and departments for lunch. It is a great opportunity for Bosch associates to grow their networks and exchange perspectives and knowledge in an informal environment. Colleagues from all over the world – for example Turkey, Vietnam, Romania, and Austria – have already taken part and shared their snapshots with us!
🤔 How important is flexibility at work to you? 💻🏠 For Bosch associate Stefan Bernhardt, the concept of "Smart Work" means more than just working from home. "For me, it's about finding the right place to work efficiently," says Stefan, who works as group manager at Bosch Engineering GmbH. To foster mutual understanding within his team for both working remotely and in-office, he decided to run a workshop. Designed specifically for this purpose, our so-called "SmartWorkshop" helped them find the right collaboration model. "Something we frequently heard during the workshop was: I don't want to come into the office and just have a headset on all day - I'd rather have meaningful team days where we compensate for all the things that we neglect on our remote days: networking, creative work and personal interaction," Stefan explains. Their solution: The team has decided to dedicate themselves once a week to these things to find the right balance in the modern hybrid working environment. 🤝🌍
