Going Virtual First meant we had to develop a whole new toolkit of strategies to help our Dropboxers thrive. One of these is Core Collaboration Hours, a company-wide block of time set aside specifically for real-time collaborative work. Learn more about this approach in our newest blog post.
“Async,” or asynchronous collaboration, is one of the ways we avoid #ZoomFatigue at Dropbox. With specific meeting times, we give employees more control over their calendars and preferred communication style. VP of Global Marketing Deborah Holstein sends voice memos to her team! What do you think of this approach?
We love building community within tech! Most recently, we (virtually) attended the NSBE convention, where we ate, danced, and built lasting connections with Black tech employees from across the country. Learn more about how we showed up in our latest blog post.
For this year’s Pride Month, we chose a theme that has a special weight and meaning to it: Honoring the Forgotten. The LGBTQ+ community brings so much joy and light to the world, but has also unfortunately fallen victim to violence. In the last year, the transgender and nonbinary community in particular has seen an increase in attacks, both through anti-trans legislation and a rise in hate crimes. We’ll be using this month and the spirit of Pride not only to honor and hold space for these victims of violence, but also to give voice to those who are too often silenced as we celebrate their stories and embrace their full spectrum of diversity. We will spend time building awareness, learning from their lived experiences, and sending extra love and light to this community. Whether you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community or as an ally, we hope you’ll join us for all that we have planned this month!
Culture is not separate from our work—it is how we do our work. As part of Career Development Days, we explored the important connection between career and culture in a podcast. Visit our blog for all the highlights!
How can you be an ally to others who are experiencing cultural and racial discrimination—not just during API Heritage Month, but year-round? Dani Tam and Le Tran shared some of their experiences and advice for others.
It can be difficult to make sense of the rise of harassment and discrimination against the AAPI community. In a recent Droptalk led by the president of Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC), John Yang, we facilitated a robust conversation around how to educate ourselves and understand the root of racial bias, and how individuals and allies can move forward to create change. For more information on how you can be an ally, read the blog.
We’re passionate about banishing stagnant career growth at Dropbox. During our Career Development Days, we gathered virtually to explore the keys to unlocking a flourishing career; read more about them on our blog.
For API Month this year, we’re encouraging our Dropboxers to make their voices heard and share their cultures. Bree Bunzel shared her story about growing up Korean American and the obstacles she overcame to embrace her identity.
From delicate pastries to different flavored breads, Dropboxers around the world have been baking up some beautiful creations! In celebration of World Baking Day, see how our talented home bakers are rising to the occasion and getting this bread!
