I have been working at npower full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Agile working, flexible working, good focus on employee satisfaction and wellbeing. Opportunities are generally pretty good if you can work through the politics and processes. Experts and hard workers are normally recognised.

    Cons

Short-term focus, dependence on management consultants, very political. The biggest con is that the company is being taken over by EON, so long-term prospects have disappeared.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees more than you do to external consultants. And get your ego out of the way and drive the business forward.

I have been working at npower full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

To climb the ranks in npower you simply need the ability to breath and blind confidence with little to no ability..not that there are any skilled jobs within the company...just 'managers' who outsource...Also agile working is great...and redundancy is enhanced...

    Cons

Won't exist much longer......5 more words..

    Advice to Management

Well done for killing the company..

I have been working at npower full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The staff who did not operate at executive level and actually do the real work which keeps those "executives" in power were brilliant, very intelligent and were able to stay motivated through daunting and challenging times.

    Cons

Unfortunately as the company was losing tens of millions £. The CEO Paul Coffey and his dodgy accomplice COO Dirk Simmons abandoned the 4,500 staff members at Christmas time without giving notice a few days after announcing most staff would be made redundant. It seems that the former COO ran off to Germany and took up a senior position on the parent company board, Innogy, saving only himself. Of course he seemed quite comfortable and almost unapologetic in the prior months/years communicating how the business was losing vast sums of money through several private meetings combined with an unprecedented amount of motivational speakers in the build up to the shocking downfall of what was one of the largest and most successful energy companies in the UK. I strongly believe in the interests of all staff, at all levels whilst they remain, and in light of recent events such as the accounting fraud at companies such as Patisserie Valerie, that they are investigated for embezzlement to alleviate any concerns about the companies finances and clear any sense of wrongdoing due to the cryptic and rather unusual communications sent to staff from the senior executives. Ultimately Paul and Dirk were accountable to the performance of the company and answerable to the staff, and yet have almost miraculously disappeared to avoid any scrutiny they rightly deserve for running one of the largest energy companies into the ground. The good news is that if they find themselves looking for alternative employment they could look at becoming magicians for their ability to make things "disappear" - money, staff, the company and themselves.
