I joined the team as Salesforce SME shortly after the launch of the project to move CRM from NetSuite to Salesforce was underway. There was great excitement in the Org for this project.
The Managers and the Salesforce/ NetSuite team at the time were excellent and very supportive - very much aligned with the Leadership’s philosophy and employees were valued and included.
Fast forward to 2023-2024 and things had changed - and not for the better!
Rather than feeling valued, my impression was that Admins were treated as replaceable widgets and worker drones. There is far more politics and management intervention in day to day work than the past and it is no longer a fun department to be in. No social get togethers, team lunches etc. Management attends Dreamforce not Admins.
Our inputs on key decisions were not sought or regarded. We were distanced from interacting with the business on requirements. And key decisions on solutions were assigned to external development partners, consultants and internal business analysts with little Salesforce experience.Admins however were expected to train those with much less knowledge than us. The feeling was that the management were looking to get rid of the Admins and outsource the work to consultants.
Key Staff involved in the original design and development of the current implementation have left the organization.
On the positive side PCC’s company values remain as ever and PCC overall was, and is still a great company to work for .
If you are a seasoned Salesforce Admin looking for a position that values your SFDC knowledge and experience and engages you in the business to make a difference , I would advise caution when considering joining the Salesforce Team at PCC .
