Pros

Free coffee and tea! People are wonderful and lasting friendships make work tolerable, and the company culture varies from location to location, but overall fantastic people and teams. A pension is still being offered with adequate benefits along with a chairman's gift. Some locations offer yoga classes or medication, on site meals, and a wellness program for gym membership. The product is reputable and directly impacts the economy (without trucking, there would be no fuel for vehicles or product on the store shelves) makes the daily work have more meaning.

Cons

Compensations starts low and takes a while to catch up with the industry and bonuses are only for upper paygrades. Only 50% tuition reimbursement along with only 80 hours of paid time off to begin, unless hired in at a higher paygrade level. There is no work from home or remote work options so commuting into the office is always a high-risk evolution during rush hours. Layoffs are inevitable and there are no replacements to do the workload, just more work for those who are left. Performance reviews are too vague, since managers, have little involvement with work or activities each team member performs. Conservative leadership and management style that often stifles innovation and development. Leadership visits are stressful at the plant level requiring many hours of deep cleaning and setting up to up to show off the best view of operations. Some benefits still lacking like generous parental leave in various states and the 40 hours sick time does not carry over, nor is it paid for not using the benefit.

Pros

Lots of great people to work with. Pension plan. 401K

Cons

If you have a manager that personally doesn’t like you, they will go out of their way to damage your reputation; some managers will damage the reputation’s of others even if that person doesn’t report to them. Sad thing is, these folks continue to get promoted. Those that are disrespectful to dealerships get promoted too. Sad but true.

Pros

Work life balance has been good. The management I've interacted with has also been good, though I've heard managers vary in quality depending on where you are.

Cons

Things tend to move slowly at Paccar. The company uses some very dated systems, and rewarding opportunities are sometimes hard to get. The facilities are also very 'alright.'

Pros

I've been with company for many years and worked in different divisions. You'll hear that's it's a lean company a lot, which is true. This means your workload is high, but once you're in, it's unlikely you'll find yourself out of a job. You'll work hard but while your friends are unemployed through difficult economic times. I hired into the company during an economic downturn if that tells you anything. On the engineering side, they focus a lot on personality rather than competency so I find that I work with quality people. Since they're lean, they are always hiring so there are plenty of opportunities. If your team loses somebody, getting approval for a backfill can be challenging, so your workload increases again. Work/life balance is also very good.

Cons

The cons are the pros because everything is a trade off. It's a lean company, so you have a high workload. Your employment status is stable, but the pay isn't that great. However, I've also gotten a pay raise every year, even through difficult economic times. When I look around for other comparable jobs in my field I have a hard time finding that pays what I currently make. I also recently did an analysis on my income since I've been there and on average my merit increases exceeded inflation. Their work from home policies are little outdated. In some respects I agree with it because I think some people aren't as productive as they should be, but their views do seam a little outdated. I can see that some managers are more flexible than others with it, but when people are working from home, it's completely under the table. The official policy is, there is no work from home policy. Everything with this company is simply a trade off, so if you're looking for a low risk long term commitment but willing to trade boring work for long term security, this is the place for you.

Pros

Not likely to lose your job unless you deserve it.

Cons

Management gossips like children. I first hand witnessed managers talking about VERY private details about other employees. Things that only high-level HR people should know. Career decisions made about employees without any verification of the truth. People blackballed for future growth based on the look on someone's face when passed in the hallway. Yes, I'm serious.

Pros

Not much, if you want a place that's okay with mediocrity, then welcome.

Cons

They blindly follow industry trends not industry standards. We have an initiative to use AI to increase productivity, without a proper plan, without security in mind and lack of general understanding. Consistently understaffed, for example there are teams or parts if teams that have max 4 developer type roles with 36 apps or APIs to support - this has lead to inconsistent code and effort as employees are spread too thin to be able to deliver quality work. Management refuses to take responsibility for issues that arise from being understaffed. Teams are not consistent in what tools and pipelines are used causing even more confusion and delays. Double standards: they don't want to properly promote or give raises to hard workers. Upper management made it clear to direct managers that "meets expectations" was a fine thing to give... To employees doing more than their fair share of work and are doing work outside of their role since they have no one else to do it do to being understaffed.

Pros

Pay Benefit 401K Interesting work

Cons

Some of the worst and nastiest people i have worked with. Your performance is based on if your manager likes you or not..your manager will make sure your name is damaged not only at the location but across the organization so you don't find another position..The work environment is so bad even the compliance department don't keep the managers accountable. Your work is not appreciated and you will face moody managers who will determine your fate. People will support eachother in the company instead of keeping eachother accountable..It is really who you know and not what you do. No flexibility if you have kids but manager can show up tired to work while you are kept on your toes. Not a stable environment to keep a job. I have seen co workers cry at work and complaining for being overworked. So much drama.

Pros

- Excellent Entry-Level Opportunity: A great place to start your career in tech or manufacturing. I learned a lot in my early years. - Supportive Management: My current manager is excellent—supportive, trusting, and fair. Not all experiences are the same, though as I previously had a manager who was overly controlling and micromanaging. - Strong Benefits Package: Health and dental coverage are really good. The yearly bonus is also a nice addition and relatively dependable. Also, they sponsor for half of your schooling to if you decide to return, which I did. You will have a two year agreement to stay after that. - Open Culture at the Top: Leadership is approachable and down-to-earth. The open-door policy is real—you can have casual chats with directors and VPs without going through layers of red tape. - Improving Diversity Awareness: While PACCAR has historically had a strong conservative culture, there’s been noticeable progress in diversity and inclusion awareness in recent years. A major plus under the CIO and staff.

Cons

Declining Flexibility: When I joined, we had 3-day WFH flexibility. These were phased out over time, which made work-life balance more difficult and less competitive. Compensation Issues: I was underpaid compared to my peers for doing similar work. Raises didn’t keep up with market rates, and internal leveling disparities went unaddressed. Layoffs and Uncertainty: The recent rounds of layoffs impacted morale and created an atmosphere of instability. Inconsistent Management Experiences: Team culture and growth can really depend on who you report to. Issues with trust.
