Shopify has changed A LOT. If you’re a tenured Sales Professional whose priority is maximizing commission earnings, this is NOT the right environment for you. You will NOT make a lot of money here. The primary value of this role is having the company name on your resume and gaining exposure to AI and E-Commerce technology before moving on to a stronger opportunity. This role is heavily focused on Cold Calling and managing a Book of Business where only a small fraction of accounts are workable. If you enjoy high-volume outreach and administrative account management with limited earning potential, this may be a fit for you. There is NO career growth here. Know your purpose, gain the knowledge and then leave.

Remote first culture. If you want freedom of location and a company to truly mean and support it - this is the place.

Cons

Constant change. Nothing to hold on to in this role, compensation, KPI's, tools all change every quarter.

Pros

Legacy Shopify ICs and lower-level managers are excellent and generally quite nice (company's Canadian after all) Caliber of engineering talent is generally high Dev-friendly stack (Ruby/Rails) Bleeding-edge AI adoption with unlimited token budget

Cons

Recently brought over a CTO from Microsoft: he brought with him a lot of not-at-all-nice people who are highly political, frequently rude/condescending to legacy Shopifolk, and make consistently bad/dev-hostile technical decisions Bleeding-edge AI adoption is being used to justify unreasonably increased expectations
