Pros

-Great spirit among the gurus, as they're always happy to help each other. -Very open culture, with even the CEO regularly taking time to answer questions, etc. -Plenty of room to grow. Lot's to learn and new opportunities available. -Great starting salary, especially when compared to others in Ireland. -Fantastic benefits, especially for those that have or are starting a family.

Cons

-Shift patterns are a bit annoying at the moment, however it is something they are looking to address.

Pros

I've been here a year and everyone is barely surviving. It feels like we are drowning every day between the lack of support, 3 chats, 10% lay-off, and head changes. Everything was dreamy for the first 12 months and now I can't wait to leave

Cons

They promised us no more firing after the 10% lay-off of staffs. Over the last week, they have been calling people into meetings and instantly cutting off their access to any slack channels and support teams assisnation style. We were told " it's normal to feel uncertain and anxiety" when I asked the lead what was going on. We have had no support from leads during this. Shopify has become nothing but a white, greedy, money grabbing corporate shambles. Every day we log in with anxiety wondering if it's our head on the axe next. Avoid if you can.

A sinking ship

Pros

- You will work with some of the most talented and intelligent people in the world - The benefits (stocks, internet & groceries being paid, free macbook) - The ability to work from home makes it easier to work as an introvert

Cons

I don't even know where to start. The company took a turn after 2021 : * Open conversations are now being silenced through Slack channels and some employees have been penalised for simply using an emoji. The transparency that employees were used to is now gone. * The pay is incredibly low for the amount of work expected by every single team. From the Research team to Devs and Support, people are severely underpaid even though they create billions in revenue. * It is impossible to move to another position unless someone tells you in advance that the position will be open. It is becoming so apparent to the point that most people leave after 1 year which is mind blowing for a tech company of this caliber. * Most of the people in the management team NEVER held the positions of the people that they are managing. This goes back to the previous point. However, this issue creates unnecessary projects, useless meetings and a lot of false hopes. Shopify is now only seen as a good name on a CV before doubling your salary somewhere else.
