Pros

For Pet Smart Corporate Office AZ. Pay is good as long as you don't mind being abused, put down, over worked, given unreasonable goals by people that shouldn't be leading a group of dogs to a food bowl

Cons

I have been developing for 20 years and I have never worked for a company that is absolutely clueless on the right way to get things done. There are no procedures followed here. The development of the digital applications runs to the beat of one business bully who decides on a whim to wave their magic wand and have their will done. Now you would think that upper management would be able to say this is not how business is done but rather than listen to the people they hire to do these jobs they agree to everything and anything, including pushing our code out with all kinds of issues, bugs, problems and overall crappy user experience just because someone wants it out there. It's senseless, pointless and counter productive. This company has the highest turnover rate of any corporate office I have ever seen. In the last year and half I have seen nothing but a downward spiral. It's not just the development group either. Project Manager that has no idea how to stay out of others business, or how to run a project properly. When you try and tell them it's incorrect, or come up with a process that is proven to work across the WHOLE IT WORLD no one will listen, the project manager has spoken, the business bully has waved their wand and we shall move to the beat of those drums! I for one have had enough. I'm telling anyone that is looking at this company to stay away until upper management has been flushed out for what they are and that is a cowardess group of dictators who are afraid to do things the right way in order to move this company forward. The fact that upper management secludes themselves in quiet little groups to decide the fate of the developers and other teams is a joke. Save yourself the trouble prospective talent and go find a professional environment to work in. This isn't it! If you want to compete with the Amazon's of the world for digital business you better get your act together Pet Smart because within 3 years you'll be a "Remember that pet company place, what was it, oh right Pet Smart"? Smart? That's funny.

Pros

The company pushes for more and more from the bottom level employees without better pay. I worked there before the restructuring and; not much can make me cry, but working here sure did, even back then. I can’t imagine how anxiety inducing it must be to work there now. Animal welfare is a complete non-concern. The only thing that’s pushed is sell, sell, sell. It’s borderline dystopian. Bad management seems to be a common issue, not only from my experience, but many others’ as well. I worked until I was an exhausted sweaty mess to make sure everything in pet care or, when I groomed, the salon, was cleaned to perfection as expected of me (and I reiterate: “me,” because these standards were not expected of my co-workers, just me) and overall felt very unseen. The only times I did feel “seen,” was when mistakes were made. Work was treated like boot camp. A co-worker that was subtley targeting/bullying me, and even started rumors accusing me of racist remarks(!!!), was promoted and anything I reported was downplayed because they were friends with the assistant manager. Working here was an overall traumatizing experience.

Cons

Employees are expected to be work-robots
