Pros

Good travel opportunities (the only reason this job got a 3). Great brand team who is adept at covering up negative reviews on glass door.

Cons

Very bad pay for the amount of work you are required to do. The bonus system is based off unattainable goals. Whatever numbers you got the previous year, even if it was the best year your territory has ever had, they will ask you for a 20% increase the following year in order to receive you bonus. This is why people leave after 2 years. Also, there are very few ways to move up. There are only ways to move horizontally. Also, management will treat you like a child and attempt to use "free beer" or "free swag" to distract employees from their low pay. They will also choose favorites, which would be fine, except that the ones they dont choose are chosen to suffer in meetings filled with inappropriate topics and passive aggressive comments.

Thank you for your review -- I'm sorry you had a negative experience here. We're committed to paying staff in all roles competitively and fairly, which is why each year we review and make adjustments to the compensation for all roles. Career development in a flat organization like ours can be tricky. We recognize that it requires staff to own their development by making the most of the opportunities, tools and resources we provide. To that end, our focus on staff growth and development has been supported these last few months with the launch of several new initiatives, including providing a robust monthly menu of professional development opportunities; publishing the opportunities across North America that are perfect for internal staff; and holding our quarterly EF Opportunities Spotlight (the first of which featured exciting opportunities in China). We also rolled out our fall manager training series and, just last week, held our bi-annual two-day New Manager Training for all new managers across North America. I'd love to hear any additional ideas you have for how we can continue to support all of our staffs' growth and development. -- Mike Kaufman, Sr. Director of People Operations

Well this is what it's all about! Early career opportunities while having fun along the way is a big part of what we hope people experience working at EF, and we are happy to hear this in your reflection. Thank you for sharing your note on compensation as well. We review our compensation packages regularly to make sure they align with our industry standards, and we appreciate your perspective on that.

Pros

You get to choose your tour and recruit the students you want to bring. The paid chaperone ratio is 6:1, so it is very manageable. The tours are great and the local experts are wonderful.

Cons

Company support is variable. There is high turnover and new consultants are very sales motivated and don't always get the nuances of your school or community group. I have had some WONDERFUL concusltants, but they have always been promoted before I get to work with them again.
