Pros

Easy going generally. Potentially a good place to build up best practices for coding.

Cons

After a year or two, work doesn't necessarily help you grow in your role. Salaries are below industry (Substantially tbh) And upper management has their hands tied due to Payroll. Not a great place to stay more than 3-5 years.

Pros

Excellent benefits, every other Friday off except in Manufacturing. Making leaps and bounds in the health industry.

Cons

Management is snobby; have no idea what is going on beyond their doors. Randy hasn’t been the CEO for several years, Alot has changed since he’s left.

Love working for BioFire, our panels make a difference in treating people with quick, comprehensive panels. The right test the first time.

Cons

Some of the managers have no previous management experience and it shows.

Pros

Great benefits when I started, they eliminated long term disability insurance towards the end of my stay.

Cons

Declining benefits and percieved value of quality control department, resulting in decreased incentives and connectedness to management.

Pros

It was good pay and benefits about 5 years ago. Okay place to start if you don't have any health conditions (physical or mental)

Cons

Nepotism Bullying Information silos Untrained management Incompetent outsourced HR Sued multiple times for SA and unsafe conditions Coworkers needed to be begged in email to stop bullying each other and the kitchen staff

Pros

Absolutely fantastic benefits, including every other Friday off, zero health premiums, and the best 401k match I've heard of. Not overworked, very well paid (not everyone is, but I am). For most, there is lots of growth opportunity and encouragement to move around the company if you wish (none of this applies to me because of terrible management in my specific dept.). They show a decent amount of employee appreciation through bonuses, parties, swag, etc. It is a company with a lot of young-ish people and can have a very fun and casual atmosphere in most departments. Because people in the area all really want to work here, the employees are top notch and love what they do and work hard but also play hard together. Typically very collaborative.

Cons

As with most companies, there is some very bad direct and high-up management in some areas of the company. If you end up in the wrong department, you may very well have a particularly difficult and negative experience, like I have recently. But I previously had a wonderful experience here under wonderful direct management and upper management. There are some who are underpaid, but I think you just have to negotiate well when you sign on to work there.

Okay Place to Work

Pros

The benefits here are good, with low medical insurance cost, 11 paid holidays, a 401k. The people in the manufacturing department are also very nice.

Cons

The pay is okay for the job. The 12 hours shifts are very long, and brutal on your wrist and shoulder due to long hours and how the product is manufactured. Management is also very strict with attendance.

Pros

For the most part, the atmosphere is laid-back and the work is easy. Benefits are decent (especially medical since you can reduce your monthly to $0 in some cases). There are a handful of great people that work here and most are friendly. If you work in engineering, the start and end times are flexible, which is really nice! Management is pretty mild. I've had one excellent leader who moved on to greener pastures. Most others are not bad per-say, but lack the drive to really support their teams and invest in the individuals on them.

Cons

I've noticed that many things have been implemented without enough testing - something with fairly obvious pitfalls shouldn't be greenlit. Even when things are tested, they have giant holes that somehow get missed. I get the impression this is due to some things being rushed and no discussions among teams that will be involved or impacted. It's frustrating to watch and continues to be a bad habit among managers. Communication is a huge issue, especially when it comes to process expectations and decisions being made (in and out of your department). Things can get confusing quickly because people aren't told about small "rules" that aren't written down anywhere but are still enforced. Also, it can take FOREVER for decisions to be made and things to be approved. Teamwork isn't really emphasized amongst teams & departments. They refuse to go 100% WFH for positions that can do so. The uppers need to keep up with the times if they don't want to keep bleeding people. Also, they have been slowly reducing employee benefits over the years and raises/ promotions are a joke (less than $1 / do extra work and THEN we might promote you).
