Our Divisions

Innovative Medicines:

The Innovative Medicines Division has two business units:

Novartis Pharmaceuticals focuses on patented treatments in multiple disease areas to enhance health outcomes for patients and offer solutions to healthcare providers.

Novartis Oncology focuses on patented treatments for a variety of cancers and rare diseases.

Sandoz offers patients and healthcare professionals high-quality, affordable generics and biosimilars.

Functional organizations with a global reach:

Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is the innovation engine of Novartis. NIBR focuses on discovering new drugs that can change the practice of medicine.

Global Drug Development (GDD) organization oversees the development of new medicines discovered by our researchers and partners.

Novartis Technical Operations (NTO) is responsible for making our innovative medicines, devices and Sandoz products and delivering them to our customers across the world.

Novartis Business Services (NBS) consolidates support services across our organization, helping drive efficiency, simplification, standardization and quality.

Corporate Functions support the enterprise in specific areas of expertise, including finance, human resources, legal and communications.

With 1,200 people across 2 locations in Cork and Dublin Novartis is one of Ireland’s leading employers in the healthcare industry. One of the first pharmaceutical companies to locate in Ireland in the 1950’s, Novartis has strong history of investing in Ireland over the last sixty years.

Our manufacturing and development is based in Ringaskiddy, Co Cork. In March 2013 Novartis announced the establishment of a Global Business Services Center in Elm Park where Novartis Pharmaceuticals is also based.

Over the past 10 years, the Irish Pharmaceutical industry has invested close to €10 billion in manufacturing and research sites around the country. Ireland hosts 75 pharmaceutical companies, including all of the top 10 in the world. In 1988, just 5,200 worked in the pharmaceutical industry. Today, international pharmaceutical companies directly employ 30,000 people, with about as many more working in spin-off jobs.

Novartis Business Services Center, Dublin

The Novartis Global Service Center (NGSC), Dublin, was set up in 2013 and is located in a state-of-the-art facility on the Merrion Road in Ballsbridge. The center, one of five around the world, delivers a broad variety of services to the Novartis divisions and organisations worldwide. Services offered by the Dublin team include Scientific and Commercial Services, IT, HR Services and Procurement.

NGSC Dublin has a deep talent pool driving innovation, standardisation and world-class service delivery. There are currently more than 500 associates employed at the site with 38 nationalities speaking 29 languages. Almost half of the associates are educated to master’s degree level while 17% hold a PhD.

 

 

Novartis, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork

Novartis Ringaskiddy is home to both the manufacturing site, Novartis Ringaskiddy Limited (NRL) and to Novartis International Pharmaceutical Ltd, Branch Ireland (NIPBI) which is comprised of the International Services Laboratory, the External Supply Organisation, Supply Chain and administrative functions.

Novartis Ringaskiddy manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients for a range of oncology, respiratory, cardiovascular, dermatology, central nervous system and transplantation medicines. Employing approximately 600 people across the Ringaskiddy campus both NRL and NIPBI are an important part of the Novartis global network.

    Everyone I talked to at Novartis was nice and professional. Interviews were typically spontaneous and unrehearsed, but generally focused on relevant questions about prior experience and how I would solve particular problems.

    However, the interview process dragged on for several months with no clear end or goal. Interviews were constantly cancelled and rescheduled. I lost at least 3 days work from cancelled interviews, and since I am a contractor, going through the whole process cost me over 1000e. The process ended with yet another interview that was cancelled at the last moment, followed by an email weeks later saying that I didn't get the job.

    There are definitely some great people working at Novartis, but their behavior towards potential candidates is shocking and needs to be fixed.
