The Position
The Network Administrator - Voice oversees the phone system of the corporate and warehouse facilities. This position is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and designing the telecommunications systems and troubleshooting telephony-related network connections, access control, and other telephony-affecting data network systems. The role is responsible for all front-line support incidents and requests from the end users of the phone system and includes the day-to-day management of resources attached to the PBX directly. This is a hybrid-working role with 2-3 days onsite per week required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and support enterprise telecommunications systems including hosted PBX, on-premise PBX, SIP phones, analog voice devices, Valcom paging systems, and related voice infrastructure.
- Install, provision, configure, test, and troubleshoot SIP endpoints, analog devices, paging equipment, and associated telephony hardware.
- Manage day-to-day PBX and hosted voice platform administration including users, extensions, voicemail, call queues, ring groups, auto attendants, DIDs, caller ID, and call routing.
- Monitor voice systems and related services to identify and resolve issues involving call quality, SIP registration, routing, paging, carrier connectivity, endpoint failures, and overall system performance.
- Implement approved configuration changes, firmware updates, and system modifications following established procedures and change-management practices.
- Troubleshoot and coordinate resolution of carrier-side, hosted-platform, and third-party vendor issues by gathering diagnostics, opening support cases, and tracking issues through resolution.
- Maintain accurate documentation for voice systems, configurations, extensions, call flows, paging zones, device inventories, troubleshooting activity, and completed changes.
- Work collaboratively with the VoIP and infrastructure teams to improve operational processes, maintain support documentation, and enhance user experience and system reliability.
- Respond to assigned incidents, requests, and operational tasks in a timely manner to support daily business operations and service-level expectations.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Associate degree, technical certification, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience in telecommunications, networking, information systems, or a related technical field. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise IP telephony, PBX systems, hosted voice systems, SIP phones, or related voice infrastructure.
- Experience administering hosted PBX/UCaaS platforms such as
- Netsapiens/SkySwitch or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting FreePBX/Asterisk environments, including SIP provisioning, trunks, routing, voicemail, queues, and endpoint troubleshooting.
- Experience provisioning and troubleshooting SIP phones such as Grandstream, Yealink, Aastra/Mitel, Polycom, or similar IP endpoints.
- Experience supporting analog voice systems, paging equipment, ATAs, FXO/FXS devices, analog gateways, or related telecommunications hardware.
- Familiarity with Valcom paging systems or similar paging technologies is preferred.
- Working knowledge of IPv4 networking, VLANs, SIP/RTP, QoS, NAT traversal, and Ethernet cabling standards.
- Linux CLI and basic bash scripting experience. preferred.
- Familiarity with Cisco routing and switching environments, preferred.
- Experience supporting distributed enterprise, warehouse, or retail environments is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in office, warehouse, and elevated technical environments as needed.
- Ability to travel locally to support telecommunications equipment and facilities when required.
Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
