TITLE: Controller
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the CEO, this position is a full-time, onsite (not a remote or hybrid) role to take ownership of the accounting function and support the day-to-day operations of the function.
The position goes far beyond a traditional controller role; it is not a purely administrative accounting position. The company is looking for a professional who understands that active liquidity management, strong supplier collaboration, and daily operational financial leadership are critical success factors.
The Company is seeking entrepreneurial, operationally strong, and highly hands-on management to be the sole contributor for the finance organization. The role will focus on all day-to-day accounting operations, improving the month-end close process, enhancing financial controls, ensuring accurate and timely reporting across the business, and building a scalable accounting function to support ongoing growth.
The successful candidate will work very closely with the CEO daily and serve as a key operational interface between finance, purchasing, suppliers, logistics, and international distribution partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Manage daily cash flow and liquidity management
- Manage and improve the month/quarter-end close processes, with a focus on compliance, speed. accuracy, and consistency
- Manage all core accounting functions including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll and on-site employee support
- Ensure financial reporting is completed in accordance with GAAP standards
Manufacturing Cost Accounting
- Manage standard costing, material variance analysis, and labor efficiency to assist with cost-reduction analysis and decisions
- Production Analysis:
- Analyze manufacturing productivity, inventory accuracy, and labor efficiency to assist senior management with cost-reductions initiatives.
Process & Controls
- Strengthen accounting policies, processes, and internal controls
- Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reliability
Systems & Infrastructure
- Work with leadership to evaluate and enhance current systems
- Support future implementation of a more scalable ERP solution
Business Support
- Partner closely with the CEO and leadership team
- Provide financial insight and reporting to support operational decision-making
Compliance and Controls
- Facilitate internal/external audits and ensure compliance with FDA and other regulatory requirements.
Strategic Planning
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and "make vs. buy" analyses.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 8–15 years as controller, senior accountant, or finance manager with hands-on accounting experience, ideally within small to mid-sized manufacturing and distribution businesses
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a high sense of ownership and accountability
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of GAAP
- Experience managing or supervising small accounting teams and or consultants
- Comfortable in a hands-on, operational finance role
- High level of integrity, reliability, and discretion
- Strong attention to detail with good communication skills
- Able to operate effectively in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment
- Strong collaborative skills cross-functionally and with external stakeholders
- CPA or equivalent qualification preferred
- Experience with QuickBooks and/or ERP system transitions
- P&L experience preferred
The expected base salary for this role is $140-$190. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there is often flexibility on job title, and responsibilities. Compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications and internal equity.

Pay: $140,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
