Current Employee - Audit Manager in Dublin, Dublin
    No Opinion of CEO

I have been working at PwC full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Learning curve can be really steep in first few years within audit; - Depending on clients, associates and seniors can obtain a lot of skills and experience in different industries; - Firm has taken recent flexibility initiatives, such as working from home (however, see cons below); - A large network of professional and smart people who can be great mentors.

    Cons

    - The culture of work hard, play hard is problematic, particularly where tight deadlines are dropped on your lap in form of new clients, resulting in overall busy year (not just busy season Jan - Apr) as soon as you're an assistant manager or manager; - Flexibility is encourages however it depends on partners you work with, and when tight deadlines are added to your plate last minute, you do end up working crazy... number of hours; - It becomes difficult to keep up with hobbies, maintaining personal relationships and a regular evening classes when work schedule is so unpredictable.

    Advice to Management

Where flexibility measures are being introduced, I believe the overall expectation and job assignments should be planned well in advance. Instead of overtime hours reaching and exceeding 65+ per week, budget more resources.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I have been working at PwC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Build great personal skills, Amazing teams, regular paid team events, if the work suits you there's so much room to grow

    Cons

No choice over your line of work and future career, Likely to end up on a project for 6+ months that has no relevancy to either your current job or future goals, Managers choose who gets what work so they tend to give all the good stuff to people they like, Unrealistic job descriptions and interviews

    Advice to Management

Take into account peoples goals and find suitable work for them. Better work = happier staff = increased productivity
