I was initially approached about the role by a recruiter back in August. Over the next few weeks the anticipated role was tweaked and it resurfaced again in a different guise in late October. I was tole by the recruiter how the role had changed but wanted to hear the story straight from the horse's mouth so a video call was arranged with the hiring manager for early November.
The hiring manager turned up 10 minutes later than the agreed start time. On a video call that's a very long time to be staring at your own self via your webcam ! I then had to watch him settle so we're close to 15 minutes late by the time we start. He was apologetic but that's just sloppy and unprofessional in my book. He then proceeded to do 90% of the talking and explained the background on why the role had been tweaked and how he had hired two other vacancies back in August. He also explained why I'd been overlooked for those roles - mmm, thanks for that - but then questioned why I was interested in this more role (now more junior and very different to the original role) as I seemed over qualified. Ditto, big thanks for that as well.
Hiring manager was very arrogant and his flippant approach to the process spoke volumes about what he'd be like to work for. Not for me.
