Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookApproves of CEOI worked at Zendesk full-time for more than a year
Pros
The org is big and still growing in revenue Skilled people from where you can learn from Great benefits and budget for self-development The communication at the org level is great Good culture of trust and responsibility
Cons
The Cons is regarding the Mobile department which is totally apart from the company. The culture in Mobile is one of the worst ever I have experienced. Managers and Team Leaders love and incentive micro-management on all levels and there is a feeling they are working against you and not with/for you. One-to-one meetings end to be a status report meeting. The career plan is not clear at all and even if you are playing a role two levels above yours, they will try to find small things to convince you and the managers above them to not promote you. They love meetings, you don't have time to finish your tasks and learn a new tech because there is always a meeting that you are required to attend. A lot of great people leaving due to all the cons above. The mobile department can make your life miserable even in a great company like Zendesk.

Pros
As above Zendesk has a great culture based on it's people and trying to do the right thing. They are not perfect but have a strong desire to learn and improve from mistakes. I've worked here for 3 years and have seen the company steadily improve continuously. This coupled with the company's strong product-first approach has made it a successful and sustainable company thus far.
Cons
Difficult to get promoted. Also difficult to get pay raise. They hire too many sales folks and not enough supporting functions. This is going to have a negative effect in the company's success in the medium and long-term and increases tension between Sales & other functions. I think they should pay supporting sales roles a higher salary based on the impact they make to the bottom line. It's not just sales that bring in the $
