First HR called me after applying. Later they scheduled for HackerRank live coding test. So once the test started, the interview asked me a very simple mathematical problem of coding how to calculate a simple formula. If you have mugged up this over the Internet you are a genius is what they believe. Sir, there are 1000s of advanced concepts in programming which we could have discussed on! But you choose a simple mathematical formula! Wow, I didn't knew that Vmware standards fell down so bad!
My final thoughts on such HackerRank styled coding tests:
HackerRank is a poor indicator of a developer’s problem solving capabilities, and like so many of these things is only really good at assessing one thing, namely how good the candidate is at completing HackerRank tests. Mugging up some predefined, sample problems is all what they can look and acheive.
