Uber is expanding in Russia, so they got 20+ openings. I applied for Marketing position. My background fits quite well and I decided to try.
I sent my CV + CL for email like russia-recruit@uber or smth. But I didn't get any response. Then I DMed recruit managers on linkedin. And after that everything was super fast.
At the same day I sent my CV directly to HR, I got an invitation for phone call. Phone call had general questions about your resume, why Uber, why this role, etc. Glassdoor has a lot of these questions.
After HR told me, that I need to go through analytical test. This was strange a little, cause I read that usually Dev Ops need to do analytical test while Marketing applicants need to do creative test. But I have no choice and 24 hours to complete analytical test.
Analytical test has 28 excel questions (manage raw data and find answers) + 4 short essays. You need to complete the test in 2 hours. Actually it wasn't that hard. I strongly recommend you to do preparations with Pivot tables. Essays weren't that hard. But as for me, it is more important to prepare for excel test, so you'll pass it quickly and have time to think on essays.
In 6-7 hours after I finished test another HR emailed me to arrange video chat with Dev Ops senior. The video interview was OK. Dev Ops explained me what the role is about, what team is doing and what they are waiting for this position. He asked some creative questions about how would I improve performance of marketing in certain areas. After there were 2 analytical questions. I didn't perform great at first question, but was quite good at second. Unfortunately, Uber emailed me that they will go into other direction.
Finally, Uber folks performed great at all levels, emailed me on time and helped a lot with my questions. If you reach recruits directly + you fits in position, you'll be emailed back as soon as possible.
