      Interview

Very helpful and organised recruiting team. Overall the process is very friendly and starts with a general intro call, progresses to a competency based interview and ends on a case presentation to a panel.

everyone I met with was nice and clearly very smart, however they clearly didn't care about me as a person even when I got to the later rounds. big companies have so many applicants, they forgot about me easily

      Central Operations Manager Interview

      26 Jul 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2019

      Interview

A recruiter reached out to me who turned out to have a relatively busy schedule and I had to wait 3 weeks before a phone screening with her. (She was really nice.) After the phone screening, she set me up for some general ideas to prepare for and linked me to a timed online assessment which I was meant to complete on my own time. The assessment was 2 hours and 32 questions long. It was pretty rigorous. I broke a sweat and wasn't sure I could finish the entire thing. Luckily you only had to get >70%, and I passed. I was then set up with a VC interview with one of the managers of the team. I prepared a lot for this interview, studying all sorts of behavioral based questions as well as a dozen or so potential case studies and their relevant KPIs. The guy I interviewed with was a young, (presumably) straight white male, and I got the impression that this is a large part of Uber's demographic. He seemed bored within the first 10 seconds of meeting, which was difficult to overcome and seem enthusiastic about my answers to his questions. Most of the interview was fine, but the case study caught me off guard. It seemed like I was expected to know more about the various touchpoints and teams within the Uber Vehicle vertical rather than Uber's business model and strategy. I wasn't asked to move forward. I asked for feedback but did not receive any.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I was asked about my approach and which teams I would involve in a product launch for a new product drivers use to connect with riders, navigate rides, review pay stubs, etc.
