Phone Screening followed by WebEx interview with Global IT Head. The position sits within the Digital Advisory Board. I was shown a power point slide informing me about the program and asked a series of questions that were not related to role I applied for.
The program is new. The gatekeepers in decision making positions who are hiring research personnel are not well versed in research methods. This may prove frustrating for researchers, especially UX researchers versed in ethnography. Many IT departs are following the trend of requiring ethnographic skills in UX job roles, without understanding what it entails. As an under-represented woman of color who faces barriers in UX (due to gender and racial bias) it is nauseating to see men with white privilege, in positions of power, in IT, who don’t know what they’re discussing then deciding who gets hired and who doesn’t.
