I’m very grateful for the opportunity to interview at headquarters and for the experience overall, even with a TBNT outcome. I learned a lot and appreciate the time that went into coordinating the event.
I do want to share some constructive feedback for the inflight recruiting team. Southwest has a reputation in the flight attendant community for warm, friendly, conversation-style interviews, and candidates come in expecting to feel welcomed and treated fairly. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. My interview felt tense and very serious, which caught me off guard and increased my anxiety, making it harder to fully show myself. I was also disappointed to learn that candidates were asked very different interview questions. Some questions allowed people to open up and showcase their personality, while others felt more rigid and interrogation like. At minimum, I believe all interviewers should be required to ask the same core questions so every candidate is given the same chance.
As a company that values inclusion, authenticity, and diversity, I believe greater consistency in both interview questions and interview environment would greatly improve the candidate experience, especially for neurodivergent applicants. I love Southwest and plan to apply again in the future, and I hope this feedback can help strengthen an already respected hiring process.
