I had a screening interview call with a recruiter that was very disappointing. The internal recruiter asked me what my compensation expectations were before even talking about the role. I respectfully asked if she could provide me with the salary range for this role instead. She responded that she did not have this information and insisted that I provide her with my compensation expectations. I found this to be very unprofessional. The conversation quickly ended at this point. It is difficult to believe that a recruiter would be unaware of the OTE figures for the position they are hiring for. The lack of transparency with compensation this early on speaks negatively for the company.
