Interview Process
1. Online Assessment (2 leetcode mediums)
2. Online interview (2 interviewers)
3. 2 back-to-back in person interview
I recently went through an interview process with SAP and was extremely displeased with the lack of communication and professionalism exhibited by the recruiter.
The process included an online assessment, an initial online technical and behavioral interview, and then in-person technical and behavioral panel interviews, which were back-to-back. I passed the online assessment and the initial online interview. However, the subsequent rounds were administratively chaotic.
After passing the first online interview, I was referred to this recruiter for the in-person interviews. For five days, I received no response. When I finally got a reply at 1 AM on a Thursday, I was informed my interview was scheduled for the following Tuesday without considering my availability. I requested Monday instead due to a conflict. The recruiter initially said the interviewers would be unavailable on Monday and would get back to me. On Saturday at 11 PM, I was told the interview would be on Monday.
I attended the interview on Monday, which I thought went smoothly. The interviewer indicated I would move to the next round. However, I found out that the interviewers for the next round were not available. I immediately emailed the recruiter to reschedule for Tuesday, hoping to expedite the process.
I did not receive a response for five days. During this time, I attended another interview and received an offer, although I was more interested in the SAP role. Despite informing SAP of my situation and request to expedite the process, the responses were inconsistent and delayed. Ten days after the in-person interview, I received an email at 1:30 AM stating they would not proceed with my application. The rejection was sent via the recruiter's iPhone, adding insult to injury.
While I understand I may not have been the ideal candidate, the lack of communication and professionalism from SAP's HR representatives was appalling. Simple email acknowledgments would have sufficed, but I often had to follow up multiple times to receive any response. Checking on LinkedIn, this recruiter had over a decade of experience, but yet these were the kind of responses I got.
I have also asked for feedback on my interviews given that they went smoothly with the interviewers so as to find out the areas of improvement on why I was rejected but it has been ten days, and I have still yet to receive any feedback.
