The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Manchester, England) in Sept 2009
Interview
Applied online, completed a quiz to see if I was a good fit for M&S which I passed. Was then offered an interview at the local job centre the following week. Went along and was told that I was to take part in a role-play of a store interaction. My situation was supporting a colleague who had been assigned as my 'buddy' and was under-performing, with one interviewer playing the colleague and the other assessing my performance, was given 5 minutes to prepare and take notes after being supplied with an overview of the situation and information about M&S protocol. Was then asked to assess my own performance and fill in an application form whilst they discussed my performance. Was taken into the interview room where we discussed how I performed in the role-play, I was marked out of 5 in a few categories and was told that I had gained a 5 in each category and that they would like to make me a job offer. Unfortunately they didn't have any suitable positions for me at that time due to my availability but was given the choice to take a job position in store with my standing offer in the 6 months following the interview.
I applied online. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer
Interview
The interview was very informal - more like a chat. Got asked about my previous work experience from my cv and the skills I gained from those experiences, Lasted around 10-15 minutes.
I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Bristol, England)
Interview
Was nice and simple - and the questions were good and they were really engaging in everything I was saying felt more like a conversation rather than an interview. Loved it everyone should apply to marks and Spencer’s big up
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Cumbernauld, Scotland) in May 2026
Interview
The interview itself was very awkward, with no formal start to it from the person that I spoke to. I went into the store and asked the only person who didn't look busy, that person ended up being my interviewer however he didn't tell me that until we sat down in an office and the interview started. It really confused me which I think affected my performance
