I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2023
Interview
The interview process was clear and straightforward. The recruiter communicated every step and ensured I was well-prepared for each stage of the interview process. I met with 2 sales managers who were also very pleasant except for one in particular who made it feel like an interrogation rather than a conversation. She asked me why I like working in Sales and I shared my passion for empowering businesses improve their performance with technology and making a difference. Her follow-up question “Is this your corporate answer?” was unprofessional, unwarranted and showed clear bias that it would be difficult for anyone to be themselves around her. This line of questioning is a far cry from someone who claims on their LinkedIn profile they are an advocate for Women In Sales. Tearing women candidates down where there is already a power imbalance is a pathetic move and clearly a huge red flag for anyone under her leadership. Authenticity is a value that Hubspot encourages, and I felt that I was speaking from a genuine place. Her behaviour during the interview made me seriously question the integrity of her leadership, as it did not align with the HEART company values that Hubspot prides itself on. She needs to learn how to treat candidates with respect and stop playing FBI during the interview. Her conduct was disappointing and detracted from an otherwise positive experience with Hubspot.
Very structured. Recruiter will tell you exactly what the next round is about and what they are looking for.
Interview was extremely structured and seems like interviewer follow script when they ask questions lol
Phone Screen with Recruiter (off-camera)
Interview with Manager (mock disco)
Interview with another Manager (mock solution presentation)
Interview with your Sales Director (pretty easy, be human, we talked about fishing)
The two managers you get can make or break you getting in as some are tougher than others.
