Was very much looking forward to this interview at F5. Position was in the marketing department and was focused on solution marketing as opposed to product marketing. Initial phone screen interviews - there were two - they went well.
The onsite interview, was scheduled for 1/2 day was comprised of 6 people each with 1 30 minute slot. That alarmed me (Alarm #1) at first, it presented a very compressed schedule, and I should have used that as a signal for what lay ahead...
In a nutshell I decided during the interview loop that F5 was not the place for me. This was a surprise as it is very highly rated and people speak postively about it.
What I had found was that each of my interviewers each had a different perspective of the job I was interviewing for and often - 2 or so of them - considered the job description of what I was interviewing for was in their charter. To me it seemed like there were some charter wars going on....
One person was 20 minutes lates to interview me and asked just a couple of questions when he finally showed up. I offered to stay later so he could have a complete opportunity to interview me but he declined. Alarm #2 - are these people arrogant?
The interview with the hiring manager was cold and effcient. She refused to answer one of my questions - on plans for the year - even thought I was under NDA.
At the close with the HR Rep, I told her of the concerns and problems I saw during the day and questioned if she was aware of these issues. She just smiled and said she would look into things.
So, that is my F5 experience. Things happen for a reason...
