I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Amgen (Tampa, FL) in Jun 2021
Interview
I was approached by an Amgen recruiter about a position. I agreed to speak with the recruiter and, after learning more about the company and the role, decided to formally apply.
A few weeks went by, and I didn’t hear anything from Amgen so I asked the recruiter if there was a status update. I was told that they were still gathering feedback about candidates from the hiring manager but that they would follow-up with me.
Since I already have a good job, I wasn’t too worried about it. But here it is almost two months later and still no feedback or communication from the hiring manager. Apparently the hiring manager has selected a few candidates to move forward and has not provided any feedback or direction on quite a few others. This is simply not good business practice nor is it the way to lure talent and enhance your company’s reputation in a candidate’s market.
Still, I’m glad I learned about how the company — and this hiring manager — operate before I took a job with them. Do better, Amgen.

Friendly discussion with HR to understand my interests / background. HR representative was honest at the start of the call that both positions I had applied for were being filled by internal candidates, but she was interested in my background for future opportunities.

Question 1
Q: Why did you apply for two different types of positions?
Thorough and pragmatic use of virtual rather than insisting on face to face. Cross functional panel which gives a good opp to speak to a range of people that you would be working with closely. Mix of more structured competency style interviews as well as less formal chemistry conversations.
