Overall, the interview process was well-structured and professional. The recruiters communicated clearly about timelines and expectations, and each stage of the process felt purposeful. Interviewers were knowledgeable and focused on understanding both technical skills and problem-solving approach, as well as how candidates think through real-world scenarios.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe a time you had to deal with a challenge and how you overcame it?
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Activision in Aug 2023
Interview
I applied online through LinkedIN. Recruiter contacted me after that and a week later I had a recruiter screening process. Next day I got a rejection email. Had a negative experience with the recruiter. Recruiter has no ML knowledge and copy pastes some questions without any context on to the chat and expects some text book answers. He also asked open ended ML model question. He was unable to provide any more context as he did not understand the question himself. He also asked questions on things which was not even on my resume which showed that he did not even bother to check my resume. i am not even sure why I was shortlisted.

Question 1
If the ML model does not work in production, what do you do? what is power analysis? when does collusion occur in ab testing?
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Activision in May 2022
Interview
Overall a really nice experience. I applied to the job on Activision's site after seeing it on LinkedIn.
I was put in touch with a recruiter for a 20 minute phone screen within a week or so of applying.
The next step was to meet with the hiring manager for about 45 minutes to introduce myself and let them introduce themself, then describe my experience in DS and relevant background info.
The third round was a 45 minute call with a senior data scientist where I walked them through a DS project I'd done and described it with technical and then business stakeholders in mind.
A week or two later was the final interview (virtual onsite), which was a full day of five interviews. I was given an open-ended case to discuss during the virtual onsite.
Personnel and topics covered:
1. Hiring manager - Talk about the day
2. Analyst and same senior DS - DS fundamentals/case
3. Analyst and producer - Behavior/culture fit
4. Two lead DS - DS interest and technical knowledge
5. Product manager - Product/biz stakeholders
My recruiter and interviewers rocked and were very communicative. Great experience overall.
