Does Deloitte offer massages?

Pros

Flexible work hours, nice people and managers, free coffee and water

Cons

The internship didn't provide much value as there were no other data scientists to guide me, and couldn't improve upon my teamwork skills since I was alone in the project.

Does Deloitte offer dental insurance?

Pros

- Good benefits (Bonus sign on, Deloitte days off, which is outside of regular holidays, medical, dental, eye, 401) - Career move based on what you want to do. This is only comes after your initial year of being hired with what you came to do at Deloitte. There are tracks/training to help you move into what you want to do. - People are helpful... only if you reach out and be persistent about all the questions you have. Don't be afraid, shy or insecure. Bug people. You need answers they might have. - Good for resume, if you don't have a degree, don't have certs, or don't have any experience (straight out of college)

Cons

- Projects can be long hours, stressful, and if not able to deal with it well, aggravating based on upper management. - Constant compliance trainings - these really really suck. they come up every couple months and have a deadline to get them done. - You must report everything you do, have and own. BUT READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY. They have a list of things that contains conflict of interest. depending on where you are in life, this will limit you on certain things. READ EVERYTHING. - The pay will be low so ask high. This is particularly for more experienced folks, do some research and find out how much you can really get for what you're doing.

Advice to Management

Learn to deal with pressure if you chose the Management route. Don't let Upper Management get to you and release it on your coworkers. This is general advice for every company out there.

Does Deloitte have a pension plan?

Pros

Flexible schedule, pay is good and still offers a pension plan. Company is huge and just about everywhere.

Cons

Getting stable work can be difficult. Performance is based on utilization, and as a new hire it can difficult to find projects. Lots of short term work, which means you can end up constantly looking for a job.

Advice to Management

Help employees get placed into positions. Finding that next assignment is not easy, and increases stress levels significantly.

Does Deloitte offer a wellness program?

Pros

Found some very smart, kind coworkers. While there's room for improvement at the top, leadership messages a lot about the importance of diversity and inclusion. Great salary and benefits, plus beautiful and comfortable office space in Rosslyn and perks like free meals and wellness subsidies. Pretty good work/life balance most of the time (except while on proposals).

Cons

Very unstructured orientation and onboarding where new hires are expected to network their way onto projects (which are mostly IT implementation/HR transformation, really dull stuff). The firm way overvalues people who've been at Deloitte since undergrad who only know how to make decks and don't have outside "industry" experience. GPS is sort of a mixed bag of smart wonky policy people and overly confident MBA bros. Unfortunately it really pays to come off as super confident, speak over people in meetings, and tell everyone how great you are because that's how you get promoted.

Advice to Management

Do a better job of onboarding and staffing new hires. Experienced hires have great work experience that is hardly leveraged by the firm. Cut down on "extra" requirements like initiatives and proposal work (hire more people who work solely on proposals!). Make promotion season every six months and stop asking people to be "operating at the next level" for a year before they get paid for next level work.

Does Deloitte offer life insurance?

Pros

Great benefits (401k match 0.25 for every dollar up to 6%, Health insurance, life insurance of your annual salary for free and you can add more if you want, 1k well-being bonus).

Cons

You hop from project to project in your early career. No stability to growth within the same project (unless you have already had a lot of experience. Not competitive enough pay. Lots of mandatory financial interest representation.

Advice to Management

College hire needs more stability. Place them in project that are fully funded for at least a year to find themselves within the company and feel worthy of being there. Need a better guideline for how promotion works

Working collaboratively, across different business units and service lines is one of the key differentiators at Deloitte. Having a multidisciplinary approach is vital for us, it gives us the ability to offer more comprehensive solutions to clients, be more innovative, make better decisions, communicate more effectively, and be more adaptable to changing circumstances. But also allows us to learn from and work with different teams, projects, and clients, and grow – that’s why we were so excited to collaborate with UCD Innovation Academy on their creative thinking and innovation module, which we hosted in our offices during March 2023. From design thinking and team building experiences to our Deloitte team facilitating business chemistry sessions and posing different challenges to the students, we had the most enjoyable, creative and engaging week – and so did the students, as you can see in this video.
