It’s been 25 years since the first da Vinci procedure in Japan—a significant milestone that reflects not only the evolution of surgical technology, but the enduring collaboration that makes such progress possible. To mark this anniversary, we’re delighted to announce the arrival of da Vinci 5 in Japan—our most advanced and integrated system yet. Kazuhiro Takizawa, president of Intuitive Japan said, “With the addition of da Vinci 5 to our product portfolio, we are expanding the range of options available to meet our customers' diverse needs. We are committed to collaborating closely with hospitals, physicians, care teams, and academic societies to improve patient access to minimally invasive surgery in Japan.” It’s exciting progress like this that continues to transform healthcare and positively impact patients around the world. That’s Intuitive.

Through mentorship, collaboration, and leadership development, Women in da Vinci Surgery helps female surgeons build the confidence and community to lead change. These aren’t just conversations. They’re catalysts—for more inclusive teams, stronger clinical leadership, and better experiences for patients. Technology plays a key role in this journey. The ergonomics of the da Vinci systems enhances minimally invasive surgery. But the most meaningful innovation happens when innovative tools meet empowered female surgeons—no matter where in the world they work. At Intuitive, we support the female surgeons shaping a future that is less invasive and profoundly better—because when they rise, so does the standard of care.
It’s Intern Week at Intuitive—and we’re celebrating the next generation of innovators who’ve spent the summer doing work that matters. From engineering to clinical development to finance, our interns have taken on real projects tied to Intuitive’s mission—and made an impact. This week, they came together at our Sunnyvale HQ to share their work, connect with leaders, and get a glimpse of what it means to build a career here. Some highlights from the week: • Former interns—now full-time Intuitive employees—shared why they chose to stay and grow here • Exhibit day! Interns presented the projects they’ve spent the summer building, all aligned with Intuitive’s real-world challenges and goals • Today, interns will cap off a meaningful summer with a day of fun at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk At Intuitive, interns don’t just observe innovation—they help drive it. Curious what a summer at Intuitive could look like for you? Explore internship and early career opportunities: https://lnkd.in/eWv7dxrs #WeAreIntuitive
Today on World Lung Cancer Day, we at Intuitive honor the patients, caregivers, physicians, and clinicians who face lung cancer with courage. Our goal is to continue delivering meaningful innovation to advance care for lung cancer patients. Lung cancer remains one of the most diagnosed and deadliest cancers in the U.S. and around the world*. We envision a future of care that is less invasive, enables earlier detection and diagnosis, and supports better outcomes—so patients can get back to what matters most. Together, we transform lung cancer care. hashtag#WorldLungCancerDay hashtag#IonByIntuitive * McDowell, S. What makes working at Intuitive more than a job? For Shannon Slaughter, it’s deeply personal. After being diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, Shannon had surgery with the help of the da Vinci system. Ten years later, he’s cancer free—and grateful for every moment he’s had since. He’s walked his daughter down the aisle. He’s held each of his grandchildren. And now, as director of distribution for the U.S., he brings that perspective to work every day. Shannon reminds his team that every shipment they make, every delivery that arrives on time, could be helping someone else get their moment, too. “Working at Intuitive is more than a job,” Shannon says. “It’s the satisfaction of knowing that you’re helping people every single day.” Watch Shannon's story—and if you're inspired to make your work mean more, we're hiring: https://lnkd.in/e2kYDGft #WeAreIntuitive
Telesurgery is not a new concept for Intuitive. Our story began 25 years ago with Brian Miller, our chief digital officer. He was an engineer on the Lindbergh operation, in which French surgeons in New York operated on a patient in Strasbourg, France. It was the first successful tele-surgical operation in medical history. Today, we’re back in Strasbourg for hashtag#SRS2025—and we’re still innovating. Our focus today is on the consistent application of this technology with patient safety and access to equitable care at the forefront of our efforts. The technology itself is no longer the challenge. Current challenges are about workflow, credentialing, training, and economics. “Telesurgery has the potential to deliver increased access to outstanding care,” said Brian Miller. "We will use our experience to build capacity and scalability to support the consistent use of this technology in the most effective, sustainable, and safest way.” Surgery that’s less invasive should also be more accessible—that’s Intuitive.
At the Asia Executive Summit 2025 in New Delhi, we heard from executive leaders across Asia on how they are scaling minimally invasive care with vision-led strategy, robust governance, and data-driven discipline. From India to Korea, we saw how robotic programs are growing not just in flagship hospitals, but across emerging markets and regional hubs. We learned that real progress comes from investing in people and systems, forming steering committees, aligning programs with hospital strategy, and using digital insights to drive performance and trust. Our key takeaway? Sustainable impact requires structure, accountability, and leadership at every level. At Intuitive, we’re proud to stand alongside healthcare leaders building robotic surgery programs that last through clinical excellence, digital infrastructure, and a commitment to better outcomes. The work happening in Asia is transforming surgery everywhere. And we’re just getting started. That’s Intuitive.

Some fun history: Our second-generation da Vinci system, in 2006, was the da Vinci S. The “S” stood for streamlined. Our vision has always been to create an increasingly streamlined and intelligent surgical platform—including the patient cart, vision tower, and surgeon console—that work seamlessly together. The goal? Greater immersion and surgeon autonomy. Increased efficiency. Enhanced flow. All to enable the hyper-focused surgery every patient deserves. Da Vinci 5 is the most advanced and integrated system we’ve ever created. Explore the story of why we made it: https://lnkd.in/ezTnek2n
