Meet Sabrina, a remarkable Army veteran whose journey from the military to a fulfilling career at Atrium Health embodies resilience and dedication. Through her service, Sabrina learned the values of discipline, teamwork and adaptability. After earning a commission as a 2LT and serving in the Army Reserves, Sabrina transitioned to a career with Atrium Health. Her strong project management skills, work ethic and exceptional customer service make her an asset to our organization. "In my role as an Army training officer," she says, "it was imperative to possess a comprehensive skill set, empathy and a deep understanding of logistics, services and security." "Atrium Health demonstrates its support for veterans transitioning to civilian careers through various initiatives and events," Sabrina explains. She encourages others in her position to "join transition programs like FourBlock and the Army PaYS Program. Remember, you have transferable skills that make you rockstars in any field," she emphasizes. Atrium Health is proud to increase opportunities for U.S. Army members to attain stable and rewarding civilian life. "The PaYS program offers a structured pathway for Army veterans to transition into civilian jobs, providing them with support, recognition and opportunities to apply their skills and experiences in a new career," says Sabrina. Entering the PaYS program guarantees a job interview and greatly increases veteran job security after returning from service.
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Queer Pride Month, or Pride Month for short, is celebrated each June. This special time was intentionally set in June to commemorate the Stonewall riots of 1968 in Manhattan, New York in the US. Multiple holidays arose out of the LGBTQ+ movement, and Pride Month has become one of the biggest celebrations all over the United States, with its main center of action in New York City. The celebration also occurs in other parts of the world who join in solidarity with the cause of freedom and rights for all. Learn more about our celebration of diversity this month.

Compassion and dedication are echoed throughout the stories of Paula, Registered Clinical Nurse - Program Coordinator and Erin, Nursing - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, a mother-daughter duo whose collective journey embodies the essence of nursing excellence. Paula's career, spanning an extraordinary 50 years, bears witness to the transformative power of steadfast care. "When I was 16 years old, I was in the hospital for weeks from a brown recluse spider bite," Paula recalls. "The exceptional care I received sparked my passion for helping others." Her daughter, Erin, was inspired by her mother's passion. "I knew I always had a love for people and for helping others," Erin shares. "But what inspired me most was seeing my mom. Her drive, work ethic, and passion for helping others inspired me to be that same type of person." Erin's interest in nursing is solidified each day as she continues to make a positive impact through better patient outcomes or even just putting a smile on someone's face.
