Pros

Team members at the restaurant level work hard and are supportive to one another.

Cons

Upper management prioritizes sales and labour metrics over employee well-being and long-term operations. Unpaid overtime and poor service charge distribution. High General Manager turnover leading to inconsistent leadership and poor communication. Operations leadership does not consistently take feedback from long standing staff members. Training is limited and inconsistent, leaving all levels of employees underprepared and without correct tools to perform their role. Maintenance is poorly managed and therefore site level employees constantly at odds due to faulty equipment. Overall a high management turnover constantly adding to low morale and operational challenges across the site.

Pros

At the start, this company was innovative, felt like a community and had great training plans and progression. There was never one way of doing things. Great for learning hospitality for your first time.

Cons

Now the company has been taken over, the structure has changed drastically. All of the people who made the bar team what it was in head office were made redundant. The new cocktails are now batch-made, you simply pour 50ml and shake. Where's the flair? Where's the fun for the customers? A robot could do it. Management are shockingly bad at communicating, especially with each other. Head office out of touch. No progression anymore, unless you want to be paid 50p above minimum wage for what is effectively a manager job. There is no longer a 50% staff discount on drinks unless you order food and book a table in the restaurant. Where's the incentive to even work for this company?

Pros

It makes your next job a god send

Cons

Head office take 60% of all online tips you get (the rest is split among all the business) and you get let go if you tell any guest - even if they ask Head office consist of bored illiterate people who spend time writing company 'ethos' which all staff members are required to remember They drop in 'undercover' requesting a free meal and testing staff on these values - you are put on probation if you get them wrong Sexual assault in the work place is at best ignored, at worst made jokes of by management If a table walk out without paying, waiting staff are expected to front the bill Massive hierarchical structure functioning off manipulation and abuse of power to vulnerable individuals

Pros

There are no pros worth mentioning.

Cons

• Very low pay for the workload. • Constantly understaffed, leading to burnout. • Widespread racism, especially toward non-British staff. • Managers were verbally abusive; some were physically aggressive. • Sexual harassment reported and ignored. • Tips were stolen from the staff by a manager. • Management roles were given based on friendships or family connections, not competence. • Sheffield site was dirty, disorganised, and poorly run; managers were lazy and uninterested in basic hygiene standards. • Coventry site was even worse and eventually shut down due to extremely poor management. • Staff were discouraged from speaking up . I was literally told to “know my place” after suggesting proper cleaning procedures for cutlery and plates (as they always came in for polishing full of oil and food remains)

Pros

decent pay and the staff are great people. i’ve made lifelong friends there.

Cons

poor management training, long hours and sometimes no break on 12+ hour shifts, completely understaffed at all times especially in the kitchen. bookings are done out of house and so they don’t understand the layout of the restaurant (larger tables chucked anywhere) and over booking and double booking us every weekend. all the company wants is money money money and don’t even think about how completely screwed we are every single day.
