Pros

Opened the door. Flexible working.

Cons

Overall, my experience as a graduate at SLR was disappointing. While the first 10–11 months were relatively positive, the support and attitude toward my development shifted noticeably thereafter. I was not given the opportunity to grow or take on more responsibility, and there was a clear lack of guidance around project and process management — raising questions about whether those leading truly understood these areas themselves. It became evident that my manager did not believe in my potential to step up, which proved to be a serious misjudgment. In my current role, I am now successfully managing larger, more complex projects on the client side — something I was never given the chance to do at SLR. In hindsight, SLR was not a supportive environment for graduates. The lack of development opportunities and active limitations placed on my progression made it a poor place to begin a career.

Pros

The people are inherently decent. The company is growing and there are definitely opportunities to grow with it. Salaries are middle of the range, as far as I can tell, maybe slightly toward the lower average. They have some very good clients and there are opportunities to work in other countries.

Cons

There are definite limitations as far as some of the senior management is concerned in Europe. Almost everyone there has been in the company since very early days and some are not suited to such senior positions given the size of the organisation. Processes are a bit ad hoc although that is changing rapidly for the better. Many of the people have a very limited horizon, which is not necessarily what you want for an international growth story.
