Pros

Lovely team of designers as peers Pretty straightforward design work that’s rewarding as you quickly see an idea become a manufactured product Biggest relief you’ll ever experience when you hand in your notice

Cons

MD will voice his opinion very loudly and will belittle staff. Publicly pushed people to vote a certain way in an election - very unprofessional Hostile working environment with little support. 2 days in and you’ll be expected to be at 100 percent and will be reprimanded and disciplined if you make mistakes Don’t be late, ever, or you’ll be disciplined straightaway At least 2 hours overtime required everyday - no pay or time back for this. And this rubbish about some months being quieter, yeah they are in the summer, but you’ll be expected to still work till past half 5 (so a normal day) and then will be working till 7-8pm everyday from November - March at least! Half an hour for lunch and no canteen - wolf that pasta down or you’ll be disciplined Poisonous atmosphere - management spy on you (there’s a camera in the office). No trust between employees or trust between employees and management. Sales team will add a whole job at 5pm, meaning you have to stay till 8 as no work can be rolled over to the next day on the schedule - or you’ll be disciplined (notice a pattern? No talking in the office, no listening to music, or the MD will throw the radio off the balcony

Pros

I'm struggling... Maybe something to put on your CV?

Cons

The negative comments already posted sum up exactly how I feel; however to summarise... The worst office atmosphere I have ever had the displeasure working in. Straight out of university and eager to learn, once the initial couple of days training was done with I was offered no help or support. If anything I was made to feel stupid regularly and it was almost like management wanted you to slip up so they could call you out on it and publicly shame you. Middle-management and other employees would throw you under a bus if it meant it saved themselves. And who would blame them really? If it saved you from a complete dressing down like a school child then anyone would; however this creates a very tense, uncomfortable atmosphere within the office My confidence was rock bottom when I left this job and have only just managed to realise I'm not worthless/useless, and I am able to excel incredibly well in other offices. The best thing I did was hand my notice in to Q2D. I would warn all future employees, especially graduates, do not be lured in by the job titles and the OK (for graduates) salary... It's not worth the public shaming, back stabbing and hostile environment you will be working in.

People don't leave jobs, they leave managers

Pros

Product is created in house from start to finish so great to be a part of something big and see where your effort is going. Plenty of opportunities to meet appreciative clients as they visit the office to see their product. Nice office space with plenty of room to work (shame the same can't be said for the staff room).

Cons

Toxic workplace where fear is the key motivator and employees are seen as disposable and only there to serve management. Its a vicious circle in which people make mistakes because of the way they are treated and then are treated worse for the mistake. Staff are publicly shamed for errors as if management get a kick out of it. MD very unprofessional often voicing his own opinions too loudly in an open office and at times belittling staff as if they are not in the room. They put on a good front and make it look like a great place to work to both future employees and clients but it only takes a week or 2 to see the truth. Huge staff turnover. There is always a position that needs filling from either a firing or someone leaving.
