Pros

Staff Discount Offices at The Shard Monthly Drinks

Cons

On the surface ‪Matchesfashion.com‬ has a lot of potential. An exciting fashion company, young workforce, a worldwide customer base, massive year-on-year growth, boasting to be a “tech company” promises of career progression, competitive rewards, work-life balance, passionate people and based in The Shard. Sounds amazing right?! Let me set your expectations… Starting at Matchesfashion.com Expect your first day to start with a hunt for your new laptop and phone to find it has not yet been ordered due to the purchase order not yet being approved. Expect to spend the next week chasing it (with IT blaming Finance and Finance blaming IT), asking for access, auto signatures, printer setup, remote access etc. No formal welcome, no new starter guides, no meetings arranged with key colleagues nor any helpful tips to get you started. No formal system training and barely any documentation. You are just left to “learn on the job”. However, you will be part of a very dull and lifeless HR led induction where the guest speakers from the business presenting look and act like they have lost the will to live and are purely going through the motion of the induction rather than actually being passionate about where they work. During Your Employment Expect to be shouted at, told to stay late, get in early, and be prepared to have your ideas shot down and growth mindset challenged. You’ll be expected to make ground breaking changes to keep the company competitive but expect to do so with ageing technology and zero budget. No flexible working and no work-life balance. You will be expected to pick up the phone anytime of the day or night if someone senior within the business calls you and regardless of how late into the night you have worked you will be expected to be at your desk early the next day. The whole place is completely micro managed by the CEO who believes he knows the best way to run every single aspect of the business. The CEO will lead you to deliver on his ideas, argue with you if you provide different ideas or solutions, but he will hold you accountable when the decision he made was wrong. Leaving the Company No exit interview. No thank-you for your service. Expect to be dead to Matchesfashion.com the minute you resign. Summary A real shame to see such an exciting company falling apart due to the way they manage and treat their staff. The company thrives on treating people badly and senior leaders really believe bullying their staff is the only way to succeed. Champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget and run by bullies.

We are sorry you didn’t enjoy your time at MATCHESFASHION.com. We recognize that we might not have been perfect in the past but we are changing. We are putting a large amount of investment into our people. We have recently implemented a comprehensive training programme throughout the company included a dedicated Manager training programme. We are committed to stamping out bad practice. We are introducing flexible working initiatives and overhauling our benefits programme. We hope that you might look at MATCHESFASHION.COM again in the future.

Pros

none, actually discount but even that was limited

Cons

Most toxic environment i've ever worked at in my life, the job itself isn't that bad but the policies put in place to do the job is terrible, no structure and it's all over the place to be quite honest. Management micro-manage you, bully you and check and ask of your whereabouts every second of your shift, even going to the toilet is an issue - says a lot. Ever since leaving matchesfashion.com my mental health has been great and would never ever go back or recommend anyone working there. If you want to ruin your mental health please apply to MENTALFashion.com.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback pertinent to the time that you worked with us. Without a doubt, due to the ongoing global pandemic, we’ve been navigating our way through these exceptional times and working from home specifically brought us challenges (and opportunities) to ensure we met the needs of our customers. This meant for Employees supporting clients in Real Time i.e. on Voice or Live Chat it became more difficult for you to make independent decisions to have personal breaks as well as juggling the move to remote working. We are actively building a Real Time Team to help support across shifts, so that our Teams have that important visibility, so that when independent away time is needed, it can be taken as well. Whilst also enabling our team to deliver other much needed improvements in terms of the timeliness of rota production as well as a better balance of shifts, which will ultimately provide that much needed work/life balance that we know is so important to achieve. From all of us at MatchesFashion we wish you continued good health and success. Kirsty Harris Head of Customer Care

Pros

location, location, location .... prestigious place

Cons

I learned to appreciate other places, anywhere else will be better than there. Over my time at MF I have learned that no place (beautiful location at the Shard) no money or no prestigious company will be able to compensate healthy environment. I joined the MATCHESFAHION happy, full of energy, optimistic, trying to realise my dream and I left the place on emotional breakdown because I couldn't deal with the bullying anymore. It took me months to learn how to smile again. Horrible place to be.
