Don't expect to be rewarded for initiative, intelligence, potential, or value to the company. Your pay is directly related to how long you've been there, and nothing else. There is also a serious pay discrepancy between male workers and female workers. You immediately notice that all of the high-paying jobs are held by men while women occupy many of the lower-paying positions.
