A land full of promises and miss-guidance

Pros

A lot of investment going into the office building. Interesting and opinionated people. Fun team building packages. Flexible schedule to a degree.

Cons

Confused and miss-leading management. You will be offered unexperienced guidance from the management. More than that, if they offer bad advice it is your fault for taking it. The management in Lateral operate on a closed minded architecture, point fingers and blame the ones under your direct supervision it is the main running trend. Social Justice is high with them, they will defend the weakest skilled one in the team, and at the same time they will make sure to have you as the problem and do the work for the rest of the team as overtime. There is no flat system, you will have more managers than colleagues on the project. Lack of identity in values of the company and employees. The internal projects are non existent at best. Most of the employees are under-qualified, if you are a Senior or higher rest assured you will be the one doing all the work. Promises are not kept, the failure to keep them are blamed on your lack of involvement, it seems to be a common idea embedded in the foundation of Lateral.

Pros

- Nicely decorated office - Aeron chairs - You get to choose your hardware (within a budget) - Generous vacation package - Lots of interesting people - Flexible schedule

Cons

- Lack of choice between projects - Big on promises, but rarely delivers and rarely on time - Average salaries compared to other IT companies in the city - Weak assortment of benefits - Work process inconsistent with improvised interventions - Most events/delegations they organize are out of hours and require you to sacrifice your own time to attend - Employees have to work extra (while not on the clock) for some things they were promised when hired - No employee progression plans and very limited conference/external training budget - Poor management with constant changes

Pros

- setup - chairs - office - coffee - flexible schedule

Cons

- thorough lack of competency in management and leadership - ever-changing company full of heartfulness communication and the next big thing is coming each year - be prepared to get on the naughty list if you don't agree with your studio partner and quickly be removed from the graces of your position - favouritism and all the toxic thing that float around it will be there, it'll take a maximum of 2 months to see it - if you're not going for a run in the morning you might get mislead that there is no real opportunity for you to develop professionally - prepare yourself to take some extra work hours due to bad decisions on the client-side without consulting with reality - it will be a common practice that you'll hear that you are not good enough and you need this and that and that's why you struggle and can't develop in a self nurtured unicorn that doesn't lack anything
