Pros

- Great people (excluding management)

Cons

- Record high staff turnover with people escaping every week - Excessive workload because of low resource as we've driven them all away - Bureaucratic processes - Sycophantic managers - Management deluded over the extent of the crisis in morale with questions on Glassdoor skimmed over in the monthly Q&A

Pros

Great people - at the lower level. Good pension. Gym membership.

Cons

Buckle up… R&D department leadership is shambolic. Seriously. 18 months into an “agile transformation” and we’re STILL firefighting for whichever one of the large customers is upset that week. It’s so exhausting. Almost zero communication as to why we’re working the way we are, with no end in sight. Work is started, and then you’re pulled off of it after two weeks to firefight for another team. We’re meant to be specialist teams with dedicated areas of the system to maintain. So many experienced / senior people have either left or been made redundant that real system and process knowledge is thin on the ground. We’re having work that isn’t fully understood put into our sprints for the arbitrary goal of “making a release”. This is leading to more bugs. Morale is so low. No substantial pay rise in almost two years. No opportunities for growth. No performance review. Pitiful bonus. Staff turnover is high. Very high. Great people are leaving almost every month now and they’re not being replaced.
