Pros

- Great community and people - Impactful work on real families - Cool news articles - Happy Hour on Friday

Cons

When I worked at Interapt, my team and I would have a great time complaining about the shared pain of working at Interapt. Not knowing if we were going to get paid on-time (or at all), discussing if what management said was a lie or the truth, even betting which exec was going to be fired or leave first. Months of this turned our team into a pessimistic group of people desperate to leave. We kept grasping onto the vision and optimism told by management, but it was just a way to get us to keep marching blindly a little longer. That became obvious when management joined us in complaining too. Interapt had a shared vision that employees even went into debt for and voluntarily went unpaid. Coworkers supported each other when they couldn't pay their bills. Meanwhile, the CEO always showed up in his bright blue Tesla with a nice green-faced Submariner Rolex to boot. Not to mention fancy news articles touting "silicon valley in KY". This is a hard review to write because Interapt does help people. There are individuals who have had their life changed because of the work Interapt does. However, it is only because of the people at Interapt who made sure those in greater need than their own were taken care of, even when they weren't getting paid. There is a reason why Interapt has no staff page and the employees rotate every 12 months. That's about how long it takes for someone to realize they made a mistake. Also, there weren't any benefits.

Pros

Co-workers are great, although ever-changing.

Cons

- Executive Leadership is poor and immoral. (Ex. : Amended employee handbook to remove PTO payout upon termination the day before announcing layoffs.) - Annual scare of job loss. Not exaggerating. The company loves to do large hiring frenzies and they can’t afford to pay everyone a few months in the future. Layoffs and terminations frequent. - Pay scale is poor compared to other companies in the area. - Talent is ever changing. Interapt can’t/won’t keep veteran employees so there is always a lack of knowledge. Onboarding is also a mess since 95% of the staff is new. - Interapt stays afloat through grants for their services work. Paying clients? Not so much. - Poor communication throughout leadership. - Poor severance packages ( < 3 weeks pay) for long-term, full-time employees when terminated due to “lack of funds”. - No room for growth - Salaries workers are overworked and under appreciated.
